GO NOLES! / SCALP EM!
Fisher comments correlate to his use of Trickett in the UF game. He put Trickett in the game but never gave him a chance to win the game. As of right now, my opinion is the following.
1. Trickett is the caretaker. He wins the job if the other two don't show enough to overtake him. We'll have a nice season 9-3 or 10-2. Trickett will be like a Mark Stoops defense, great against teams that aren't super talented but unable to adjust when the competition takes a step forward.
2. Coker has to be the favorite going into the spring. He almost won the backup job this summer and has elite skills. The guy can do everything you want a QB to do. We could go 8-4/7-5 or 11-1/12-0 with Coker.
3. Winston is the special one and clearly a pure worker. The film comment could have a couple meanings, 1. Coker and Trickett better step up there games or Winston will pass them. 2. He's trying to keep Winston head in the game with the complement. 3. Winston work ethic is at another level than the other two. We could go 8-4/7-5 or 11-1/12-0 with Winston.
For us to make a BCS bowl or better, we need a QB to make 5-10 elite plays in big games. EJ made elite plays against VT and Clemson but failed to make any against UF and NC State. Against NC state, he didn't make average plays.
Really looking forward to the spring game and watching Coker (& Winston) running the veer (or any designed runs, e.g., option, etc.), different formations (e.g., pistol, etc.)... and not Trickett. If they (Coker & Winston) can do this successfully, IMO that's a big bonus for these guys going into 2013.
The O playbook for Coker/Winston is just different than the playbook for Trickett.
