Not sure they could have done much better but have the same deal without the 3rd tier rights would help the schools better individually. I guess the ACC doesn't get the big picture and havent for some time. it's time to get out of this conference before its too late. With some good leadership this could be a good conference in football

Neither did UF. I think the only part of the deal I don't like is the Tier 3 give-a-way. It will be interesting to see the details of the deal. My understanding is that college football viewership across the board was down last year. If this is the case then it was a pretty good deal. A 30% raise is not to be sneezed at. Personally, I think after the playoff is finalized there will be quite a bit more movement. All sports teams across the platform have problems selling out their arenas/fields. Even the Boston Red Sox's might not sell out some games this year and break their streak [at least that is what the papers up here are saying]. Winning fills up the stands, but it is only temporary as all teams cycle down. Funny, I think it is crazy that so many fans will go to a spring practice [other to enjoy a nice spring Tallahassee day]. But that is not a sign of a failing enterprise. There is so much misunderstanding about how athletics works at the college level in all these posts, but one thing is for sure, we are going to go through changes over the next few years that will make the posters on here go crazy.

Not to mention, and I have said this already, we have no idea what is going to happen with these pending lawsuits and the NFL, football from top to bottom could be like boxing in 10-15 yrs, granted thats drastic but nobody knows.
I will tell you this, there are a lot of nervous people out there.

Because it is not about butts in the seats it is about eyes on a TV.... No one in the ACC and only a handful of teams in the country get the viewership that FSU does...look at the last 8-9 bowl games we have been in...we have blown out the ratings in each of them.....
I think the question is......in the end did the ACC really get screwed or is the rest of the conference that weak in viewership that this is the best deal they can do?
FSU needs true leadership right now...we dont need to make a rash decision but someone has to be awake at the wheel...... This is a very serious and big decision and IMHO we do not currently have the right individuals in place in key areas to make the best choices for our University.

Exactly how did FSU get "bitch slapped"? Why does FSU deserve more?
I keep reading this, and don't get it. We don't even sell out all our games, yet we are supposed to get some SEC-like TV contract?

Football has changed - seling out games doesnt mean as much. Being one of the top TV pulls (which FSU is) is more important.
With the HD TV, Big screen TV, etc the future is TV not attendence.
I know most will cringe when I say that but it is what it is. Think about the music industry - all the money was in the reocrds and touring was done to promote your records. Now all the money is in the tours and the records are just a way to promote the tour.
I think college football is going the same way - used to be all about filling your seats now it is about getting people to tune it. Though winning will get the seats filled again which is gravy on top.

We all know about the "geographic constraints" on Tallahassee, and the comparative populations and fan bases within xyz miles. There is a lot the university could work on to get people in the seats. We open our season with FOUR September home games, only one of which is against quality opponent (nothing we can do about WVU now). I don't understand why they can't be spread out. Why can't we have a cupcake the weekend before UF like they do? Is that on us, or the ACC? September games are miserable. Getting to Tallahassee isn't easy and the hotels gouge you. 4 weeks in a row is absolutely absurd.
We'll see what they do about kickoff times. Doak needs some work, but that isn't going to change with the current budget issues.

Did the ACC get ripped off with new contract?
