Derek Dooley as potential RB's coach (?)

I was just talking with a buddy about who else could be the next rb's coach. It seemed like Larry Porter was the favorite out of the gate with connection to Jimbo. With Porter at Texas and Burns staying put, Dooley is atleast a name to throw out there. Coached with Jimbo on the 2003 LSU national championship team as RB/ST coach. Now he's looking for a coaching job, if he would accept the fall from HC to position coach.. Just a thought fwiw.

It was talked about, kind of. Someone mentioned if burns took the job at fsu then saban would call Dooley for the RB opening. Not sure if he'd be open to the drop but who knows.

Not sure about how it looks to Universities but IMO if you get fired and then lay back and relax living off the contract if looks super bad.
Shows that someone in the end isn't to worried about getting another job and wouldn't mind being fired, no hire if I was in charge and he does this.

Certainly possible but Im thinking more along the lines of Dooley's mindset. He's gotta be burned out from what down at UT, not exactly the most popular person in that state. By the time he works himself up to a HC job I doubt admin would hold taking a year off against him

We did some checking on Dooley immediately after Gran's departure. Word was that he was unlikely to get back into coaching this year. We will check on him again tomorrow.
