  • I'd be surprised if he flips to Kentucky of all places, he could do better.

the only reason he'd flip is if his relationship with Stoops and Eliot are that important but I think he is solid. He loves FSU.

  • His relationship is with Trickett and he committed in January.....well after Stoops and Elliot left.

  • Interesting, Mark is recruiting one of our commitments hard... beginning to believe (the rumor) that Mark and Jimbo didn't have the best of relationships.

What does that have to do with anything? At the end of the day, coaches want great players and I for one don't think that any relationship good or bad would stop any coach from going after a great player, jmho...

They won't if this keeps up.

It's a business. Stoops is going to recruit everyone, regardless of past relationships.

  • Looking on the twitter feed on his profile he tweeted "really feeling Kentucky right now" about 3 weeks ago.

I see it like this, no disrespect to Kentucky, but if he wants to go there wish him nothing but the best. We are FSU and we need to stop playing around with these kids. If you down be down, if you're not seeya!

I get that...but there is still politics involved in business and many people seem to overlook that aspect. Saying "it's just business" seems to justify anyone today of anything.

↑↑↑↑↑ THIS. For example, you won't see Mark going hard after a kid who is committed to Oklahoma, etc. There are many other examples, but this example suffices to show that the anything goes/it's just business characterization is false.

  • Is it just a misperception or does it seem like Stoops himself is a lot more active on the trail since moving to Kentucky? Other than Hudson, I don't think I heard an FSU coach's name less from prospects than Stoops over the last 3 years.

When it comes to recruiting, it is "just business".

Fisher has shown that previous employers mean very little to him. Have you seen our success in Alabama lately?

He very well might if he feels he has a chance to pull that kid in. Ultimately, his job is on the line.

Fisher coaching with Saban hasn't stopped Fisher from raiding Alabama. Same goes with Pruitt. Same goes with Coley. Same goes with Graham. Same goes with Tim.

They are all recruiting guys that either were committed to their previous employer and/or are targets of their other school.

"They might" means that it's not the case that "it's just business".

Look, I understand that it's a business and my post about Stoops not liking Jimbo was meant to be funny--seems to have struck a nerve with some--but it just seems obvious to me that some coaches think twice about pursuing a committed kid (e.g., coaches who are brothers, coaches who are good friends, etc.) and some coaches don't give a damn (e.g., HC at FSU pursuing a kid committed to UF, Miami, etc.)

No, "they might" means they've identified a kid they have a chance with or a connections with, just like Stoops has with Purifoy.

Pruitt did it with Walker, more or less. It happens. It's business.
