That game is solely on the O and especially #3.
He had countless opportunities to end that game, and the defense was gassed. Hell, they made a great stop on the next to the last drive.
Stoops did a great job! Its true the D did lack turnovers and they blitzed so few times that when they did appeared somewhat rusty. What blew that game was that blocked punt!
Maybe because we would have blitzed more. We lost because of Jimbo. We wanted to go into a prevent mid 3rd quarter and the team played like it.
I think he would have made a bigger difference against UF. The more you pressure Driskell the worse he plays

As much as I hate to admit it, EJ owns that game. He missed a number of opportunities. I do blame Jimbo for not throwing on that key series in the second half where we were trying to convert 3rd and long and just ran the ball instead.
"It's not the SEC conference vs. the ACC conference," "It's Florida State vs. Auburn." --Lamarcus Joyner
Things EJ couldn't do in that game that would have ended the game, yet Fisher is charged with being conservative:
EJ couldn't hit a deep pass to KB when called.
EJ couldn't hit an open TE on the 10
EJ couldn't hit deep corner one-on-one (missed that pass since his opening game and never improved at it...hence more high completions and check downs)
EJ missed a screen
EJ turned the ball over on a slant inside the 25
EJ rolled out and could have thrown the ball away and kicked a FG to go up two scores, but we all know what happened. It had happened against Virginia and continued into Florida.
What could he have called?
Excellent points. I do agree that we came out in "run the ball/kill the clock" mode, but he did get more aggressive as NCS started to come back. Problem was EJ was out of the game mentally at that point and, as you noted, missed a great many throws.
His second worst performance to UF this year, IMO.
These threads are hard to stomach sometimes, seriously. You could have blitzed and all it would have meant would be another uncalled hold. Jernigan was tackled from behind on one play, Werner was being held just about every time, and so where was Carradine. Please don't give me the "you gotta play through that stuff" bullshit. The officiating was inexcusable, and although an offensive play could have won the game anyway, the fact remains FSU was good enough to win, but the officials weren't having it.
And no one has seen Pruitt's defense yet, some of you have already painted this picture in your imagination and will again squeal like a skewered pig if the product on the field doesn't match up to your XBox360 vision.
All that and if Jimbo would have had faith in Hopkins to nail a FG well within his range, we still would have won. EJ/Jimbo have to share the blame on that one along with the 2nd half defensive "lack of" strategy.
You are just a mean dude! Right, but mean. Wasn't too long after that game, when we began to see FSU get called for only 5 penalties a game, 2 of them major, instead of our normal 13, with 8 of them major. Heck, they even called a hold by the guy trying to block the Germanator once in a while. I thought I was trapped in the Twilight Zone. We even got a call we by right shouldn't have once in a while. When that happened, I became convinced Bandy the Seminole Cat had figured out how to manipulate the remote, and stolen my Seminoles and substituted a Big 10 team. WHAT? ACC refs calling the game evenly? I still don't believe it. There's a conspiracy going on here, and I bet we have GA's leaving a bottle of jack Daniels in their dressing room, and a better grade of sausage rolls. Not to worry, Sherlock Nash is on the case.
