of the night goes to the 'unsportsmanlike conduct on Telvin'.
What was that?
And these were SEC officials.
Or the pass intference called, not by the ref standing 3 feet away but by the back judge 20 yards away and looking at the back of the play
Tom, you've probably never watch Alabama play this year. Saban teaches his players to help the opposing team up off the field and dust 'em off. So when the very sensitive but caring ref saw Telvin beat his own chest then the ref had no choice but to throw the flag for the unthoughtfulness.
Thankfully, the game was already determined, if not I would have blown a gasket.
I was actually pleased for the most part with the officiating until we started to get a good lead. Then they completely changed it up and started to call in favor of NIU. Guess they were trying to protect them at the end, but that didn't require the drastic change. I was annoyed with the Smith call because I see that type of celebration all the time after a big hit. Had the score been closer, I don't think they would have called it.
I thought they did a good job other than that call and the bench warning garbage but we got some good calls too - XR got away with a PI in the endzone on the fake punt drive. Also they had some balls, the acc refs would've overturned the reverse fumble and played it safe IMO
Also there were a few spots where I remember thinking they weren't very generous to NIU when marking the ball.
FSU -->----->> The Unconquered Uprising
That was a bad call. He walked away from the play before doing anything and then only beat his chest like three times. Not sure why they felt the need to call that.
The unsportsmanlike penalty on Jimbo. The ref followed Jimbo after Jimbo turned to walk away, and THEN the ref threw the flag on him. If the ref can't take complaints or criticisim, he should probably go back to door greeter @ walmart. On top of that, he basically badgered Jimbo into the flag by following him once Jimbo turned away.
That was almost half our penalty yards on that one drive with 30 yards for to non calls
Head scratchers for sure. Overall I thought it was a solid officiating job.
Deserve got nothing to do with it...
Nothing in the FSU game even compares to the first down call in the Outback Bowl.
But that said, Telvin's PF was baffling. I have no idea what Jimbo said to the ref, so I can't really comment on that one.
This was the biggest BS call Ive ever seen for the reason above. The biggest reason though is this is not baseball or basketball where you cannot say something to the ref. Jimbo was fine with what he did especially after the ref followed him. Throw a flag beacuse a Coach is giving it to you. BS
