apparently will be announced tonight
Local guy from Manatee. He coached at Western Kentucky. Solid hire imo
Great hire. He's in my region news wise. He could make them the class of the BE
Would love to have him at FSU if we lost Bob
Seems like a bit of a lateral move for him.
You don't think USF is a better job than Western Kentucky?
Hoping that was sarcasm.
Its already wikipedia official. Not a big name but would be a very good hire. Built WKU up and has them going to a bowl game this year. Very good recruiter who does well here in the south. Couldnt do any worse than skip did that's for sure.
It's not that much better thats it's worth taking. He could get an ACC, lower level SEC Big 10 job so why go to USF?
Dude is a GREAT hire for USF, perfect! We will have real trouble getting kids from SWFla now with him there as the man can recruit and coach. He will have them on top of whats left of the BE in a couple of years...quickly! Best decision USF could have ever made.
I mentioned this way back when rumblings about Holtz being let go were surfacing. I really think this is a HR hire for USF.
Taggart is from Tampa and I think he's a good enough recruiter that he will really get some big-time kids that would normally go OOS.
As far as it being a lateral move, I don't think so. Best case scenario is that he reels in a boatload of talent and runs the Big East, with a chance for a big boy job in a few years.
Worst-case, he fails at a place few have won and he can probably go back to a Sun-Belt school if this doesn't work out.
To me, the former scenario is more likely at this point.
"A Seminole warrior killed in battle is a legend remembered. A Gator lost in battle becomes a pair of boots and a belt. "
It's a great hire, but don't think we will really be competing for recruits. It will hurt Miami, Louisville, Rutgers and the like.
Don't know about this guy at all, except that this above say it's a good hire.
Given his last name however, I keep thinking about the movie "Blazing Saddles"
Best that USF could ever have dreamed of getting. They were close to falling off the football map if this hire didn't go right. I can't see how they don't win the BE every year unless Taggart falls on his face.
Deserve got nothing to do with it...
