He's probably the second best CB I saw this year, behind Vernon Hargreaves. But he's also a little different than Vernon.
Ramsey is a little longer and bigger. Both cover a lot of ground, are smart players and finish. Ramsey dominated at The Opening against smaller, quicker WR's and handled bigger, stronger wideouts with ease.
Huge pickup and I think this sets the tone for Signing Day.
Jalen Ramsey was part of the Rivals100 Challenge when I was over there and it was my first chance to watch him over an extended period. I loved what he brought to the field. Competitive with good speed and decent quickness, but great at using his length and competing for the ball either by going up for it or extending his hands and getting them on the pigskin. He could be a corner or safety and excel at either position.
I like Vernon Hargreaves (Florida) better, as I think he is one of the best cornerbacks I have ever watched at the high school level, but Ramsey is right there after him along with Kendall Fuller (Virginia Tech). Tre'Davious White (LSU) is also in the discussion.
Mackensie Alexander is immensely talented but I've always felt his antics on and off the field would bite him in the backside in college. Never shed a tear when he eliminated FSU.
Spoke with Gerry Hamilton about Ramsey this morning. Here is his take:
“Ramsey is one of several top defensive backs in a loaded 2013 class at safety and corner,” 247Sports.com Director of Scouting and National Analyst Gerry Hamilton said.
“The first thing that stands out is his size and wingspan, which is what college coaches covet,” Hamilton said. “Either at safety or corner, Ramsey is a physical player with plus hands and ball skills.”
“While there have been many discussions on his future position, there aren’t questions on his talent level,” Hamilton said. “In person, at corner, he may not have the elite or special quickness and burst of a couple of others in this class, but he makes up for it with smarts, understanding, and physicality. He excels in off-coverage at corner and can easily cover hash mark to boundary at corner.”

Outstanding CB class now with Ramsey and White. A couple of depth/projects at DB, but fantastic CB class.
I am diggin what your layin down here.
Great get and hope this is only the beginning of what is a great NSD for FSU!!!
Need a complete breakdown.
Two years in a row we are going to pull a five star corner that didnt have any interest in us two months before signing day.
To say he's the 2nd best behing Vernon is no insult. Vernon might be one of the best I've ever seen, truly special. I love how long Jalen's arms are, he reminds me a lot of joyner only taller. I think both will be special.
Deserve got nothing to do with it...
Darby and Ramsey= shut you ish down. Could be the best duo we've had since McFadden and Cromartie.
