Lets be honest, it's not the SEC, it was Urban Meyer and now it's Nick saban. That conference crap is the most overblown thing in history.
Until we get a OL similar to Bama's and it stays consistent (Watson leaving stings more then the casual fan even knows), and we get a QB who will be a difference maker every week, I don't see us doing much to ball with a Bama, LSU, etc..
OSU losing some DL early won't help. Also need a play making WR.
USC is just in shambles atm.
lol Stop the SEC? Bama is 80% of the battle. Then 5% for LSU, UGA, UF, and TAMU.
We have the talent to play with anyone, but talent isn't the only thing that makes Bama great. Nobody develops and motivates players quite like Saban. They are a well-oiled machine. So disciplined, so focused, so driven. Everyone knows their role; they know exactly what to do and when. It's going to take a while for our staff to coalesce and for all the players to believe. How long would Saban put up with KB?
The Future is Now.
Sure Saban wouldn't put up with KB. I'm at the point where Jimbo needs to tell KB, either you focus on getting better or move on. Dude has so much damn talent and potential it's unfair.
Honestly, I'm tired of seeing him on the field.
This. Those two have delivered 6 of the SEC's last 8 National Championship teams.
The only outliers: 2007 LSU (a two loss team in the craziest year of college football in recent memory) and 2010 Auburn, and we all know how they bought, I mean got that one.
5 of the 7 championships were won by Meyer and Saban. Another with Saban's recruits. The last one with one of the greatest college players in history.
2 of the better coaches in the modern era won 70-80% of the titles. Not the "SEC".
Mind you - at 2 of the top 5 programs in CFB. Every resource imaginable available.
probably us or USC. EVen with urbie OSU will not get the same speed as the sec. USc and fSu will. an argument may be made for UCLa and Texas as well.
There is something very wrong at OU. So whatever that is needs to be fixed first.
as to uf, bobby letting jeffy and co. run amok gave them their 2 titles. If we had an aggressive recruiting staff in for zook and meyer there is not enough talent assembled in gainesville to win the mnc's certianly in 2006 for sure. eg, the pouncy twins were all FSU except mccale would never cqall them and urbie's student assts texted them 50 times a day pretending to be urbie.
as tot he SEc, it is Bama and the 13 dwarfs. BTW, one 2 loss seaosn does not put A&M anywhere. Make sure they don't go 8-4 next year. I think they will come back to Earth.

The problem isn't the talent of the SEC.What can't be gotten around is the 6 or 7 teams ranked in the preseason top 25.They're totally bogus and it gives them a SOS rating that can't be made up.Thus, you can lose 2 games and make the championship game.
We won't miss watson that much. If we are not good without him we would not have been good on the ol anyway. He was a solid ol this year. Yes, solid except when he was not solid.
Losing one solid ol does not make you miss somene more than you would know. Hell, you should not miss him at all.
This board thinks just because Waston may be a good NFl ol someday he was great this year. No Watson has potential. most of which quite frankly, was not seen this year. We won't miss what watson may be 5 years from now.
Holy crap, just when you take a person off ignore, see him doing the same old crap, he comes up with a gem.
Guess I am going to have to keep you off ignore for a while longer.
As often as I disagree with him, he does have a point. The excitement surrounding Watson his his potential, not necessarily his production. He was better then solid, but he's not irreplaceable. If he were our LT, I would be much, much more concerned.

If KB keeps developing, he'd keep up with him as long as he could and ride his ass.
Nobody watched this years OL down the stretch, apparently.
And ACC.honorable mention means what... Or maybe a Mac de,holding his own means what? Solid. That is what it means for 2012. Sorry to destroy your illusion.
Or vt or -he was in a lot when we looked bad as well. The 2nd half of GT is on EJ
As to others if losing one good ol makes the ol suck in the end then that is a Trickett issue. Watson was not good enough to make this ol bad next year just because he left. it would have been bad anyway.
Ya'll are overrating what he did on the field this year.
FSU and USC are the only schools that I think can unseat those guys. We both get the talent and have the expectations of titles and aren't afraid. The one thing that the SEC has that we simply cannot match is the week in and week out match ups that prepare them for big games. Playing in hostile away games and huge home games every week just makes your entire team battle tested. That element is missing from FSU's equation. Is it insurmountable? No. Does it matter? Hell yes.
Count me how many sacks he let up, and how many times it was his assignment where penetration blew up a run.
Talent wont matter until we get on the same level of nutrition as bama
College Football's best is being Played by the SEC, FSU and Clemson.
The winner of the ohio state v michigan game is also in a great spot to get to the big game, then get throttled. They both will come south, like ND, and get some top talent, but all 3 will lack the depth to go toe to toe with a roster full of southern talent. There is a difference.
Bama, Georgia and Texas A&M are probably the best teams in the country. The SEC is the best conference in college football. It should not have to be said. They prove it on the field.
They prove they have a few elite teams each year, yes. This is the best year the SEC has had. Take a look at the SEC when Auburn, UF and LSU won titles. Not impressive.
