Bjoern Werner named to the Football Writers All-America team.
Chris Nee of 247Sports.com. You can follow me on twitter @CNee247.
That makes him a unanimous all-american.
Bjoern Werner already was a consensus All-American. Now he can call himself a unanimous one as well.
The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) released its annual All-America team Friday and Florida State's star defensive end is one of the 26 student-athletes recognized.
With the honor, Werner is now considered by the NCAA a unanimous selection for the 2012 season as he has already been featured on All-American lists by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, the Associated Press, the AFCA and Sporting News.
A player is a unanimous All-American if he is placed on all five of those teams and is a consensus pick if he is on at least three.
Here's a look at each of the honors that Werner has captured in the wake of FSU's 11-2 conference-championship season with an Orange Bowl on Jan. 1 still to be played:
Walter Camp All-American (1st Team)
FWAA All-American (1st Team)
CBSSports.com All-American (1st Team)
Sporting News All-American (1st Team)
AFCA FBS Coaches' All-American (1st Team)
AP All-American (1st Team)
Pro Football Weekly All-American (1st Team)
SI.com All-American (2nd Team)
ACC Defensive Player of the Year
All-ACC (1st Team)
Coaches All-ACC (1st Team)
ESPN.com All-Conference (1st Team)
Nagurski Award Finalist
I would do almost anything to have him for one more season, but that seems next to impossible now
I still think Tank is the better player and had the better season but Werner certainly made his mark
Werner got all of his sacks against less than stellar opponents
5 sacks came against the FCS schools and 3.5 came against UF who ranked in the 100's in sacks allowed.... that leaves 4.5 for the 10 games left on the season and these also came against teams that don't do much in terms of stopping a pass rush
Sacks allowed stats
Wake = 85th
Maryland = 115th
NC ST = 110th
BC = 106th
Clemson = 78th
South Florida and VT = 52nd
GT = 15th but for obvious reasons
I still think he needs another year to get into the 265+ range for the NFL but he might be able to do this preparing for the NFL and you just can't turn down a first round grade these days and there is no denying he does it all at DE
Oh well, good luck to him.... he will be missed next season and will take a huge weapon off this defense

How can you not love Werner?
I do, but if Im an NFL scout Im looking at everything I can in terms of studying how a player made his mark
I also think Tank had the better season and is the better player ( splitting hairs for its very close )
I said last year that Tank was the best DE, T-Noles will back me up on this if he remembers
Tank should have been ACC defensive player of the year, or they should have been co-players of the year
JMO though, Im shocked over the lack of love Tank got in the awards category
Kid was unreal this year, and made many in the national media forget the name Brandon Jenkins ( not an easy feat by any stretch of the imagination )
That wasn't a response to you. He's just so easy to like. Doesn't mean he's perfect, but super fun to watch and a great interview.
I am sooo happy for Werner! Great football player and Nole!
Although I'm a bit disappointed that Tank did not get AA status. He was our best player imo. He did not even start till game 3 due to Jenkins not being hurt until game 2 and he led the team in tackles (unheard of for a DE that is usually rushing the passer) until he got hurt vs Florida and was 2nd in the ACC with 11 sacks.
GO NOLES! / SCALP EM!
Jenkins was hurt in the first half of game 1 brah
Is not NFL ready, anybody that thinks so is a fuggin moron
Take away his FCS stats and he only has 3 sacks on the year grumble

Top 10 pick in this years draft.
That will drop as soon as he runs a 5.2 40
False, the kid is a 255 pound slow ass dood
Too small for DE, not fast enough for OLB
Kid will stink in the NFL, he better stay and enjoy college _______________________________________________________________________________
The NFL isn't looking for slow undersized DE's last I checked
Cool GIF, care to explain only 4 sacks in the ACC ? that sound like first round material to you ?

you would realize this if you paid attention, they also run away from him a lot. I'm with you he should stay but guy will be a good player in the NFL [/I]
We will see, he is barely a good player in the ACC
Tank is way better, and I said that last season
Nobody is drafting a 255 pound DE, he needs to pack on around 15 pounds
Is not NFL ready, anybody that thinks so is a fuggin moron
Take away his FCS stats and he only has 3 sacks on the year [grumble]
Apparently not everyone loves Bjoern.
I stand by everything that I have said about Werner, I don't really see him dominating the NFL at all
Certainly not right away
He is not very big and not very fast... I bet he runs a 4.8 at best come combine time and at 255... well that isn't so hot
I don't believe he is NFL ready at the moment, and just cause McShay thinks so doesn't mean anything to me... dude had Logan Thomas at #3 once upon a time as well
The NFL is a whole different animal than the schedule he just faced this season
Tank is by far the better NFL prospect to me
I like how you edited out a lot of parts to those posts, I said nobody would draft him first round.... not draft altogether lol
Keep in mind that fans like you cried when I said Ponder would suck in the NFL too, who is winning that argument my friend ?
I also remember a time when I got bashed for saying Lawrence Timmons would be twice the talent in the NFL that Ernie Sims would be
This was another victory on my belt, and fans like you pointed to how great Sims looked with his shirt off... his epic 40 time and higher pick in the first round
NFL scouts don't watch as much FSU football as I do in most cases, and McShay falls into this category
I know more about Werner than he could ever pretend to know about him
Im willing to make a wager with any Nole that wants some action
Tank will have the better NFL career pending health of course, and had he not gotten hurt he would have been drafted before Werner in the April draft

I have argued about many things with people like you and won virtually all of them. Therefore, I am winning my argument with you by sheer volume. /misapplication of the transitive theory.
Okay pal, you can't deny anything that I said about him though
He played nobody this season and his stats are a direct result, lots of NFL teams will take this into consideration cause they aren't Nole homers like yourself
McShay saying he will go #3 overall is laughable and will not happen
JJ Watt was 6'6" 295 and ran a 4.8 40 during his combine, which might be faster than what Werner runs it and he went 11th
Jared Allen is 6'6" 270 and ran a 4.72, had more sacks in college and went in the 4th round
Yet you think a 6'3" or 6'4" 255 pounder is going in the first round cause McShay says so long before the combine ? why ? cause he tore up one of the easiest schedules in america ? and really he didn't tear it up, he only had 8.5 sacks against D1 schools and only 3 of these D1 schools had winning records
Fat chance my friend
Chris Long, who many compare Werner too
Went #2 overall, and is far from worthy of that pick 5 years later with only one season over 10+ sacks
And he has 25 pounds on Werner right now, and is much faster or so far as we know
Werner has much to prove my friend, and most NFL scouts are aware of this Im sure
Make no mistake that Long's short comings and the fact he comes from the ACC like Werner with a very similar build albeit much lighter in his britches, will be a red flag on Werner going this high
Its no wonder McShay graded him that high, dude is profoundly STUPID and only ESPN could employ such a dummy

Imagine if he was like Clowney or Moore without another beast Defensive end racking up sacks, just imagine the numbers he would have, he already put up these numbers against anything the offensive coaches threw at him, doubles, triple teams nothing stopped him and most games he was playing within the scheme.
It will be interesting to see what he does in the NFL
He is certainly very coachable, and seems to get better and better with each year
I just want him on next years FSU team cause I truly believe it will help his draft stock to get a little bit bigger
McShay grading him at #3 overall means nothing in the grand scheme of things, there is really no telling where he gets drafted for mock draft boards change a million times from now to April
If Im being dead serious on a draft grade for him right now, I would guess he goes somewhere between late first and late 2nd
Can't see him going in the first 15 picks without knowing his combine stats
Im very curious to see what he runs a 40 and 20 yard shuttle in, his bench test will be interesting too... I don't agree with how much emphasis is put on these tests.. but facts are they put a lot of weight into them among NFL GM's and scouts
Lol nova u really are clueless btw Suggs for the ravens ran a 4.8 range oh bolden at wr ran over a 4.7... U have no clue sacks mean nothing to scouts btw, nothing and Werner was let lose rarely and played the run better than any de in the country....so let me get this straight every writer scout pro evaluator and coach has him as a top player in the nation and top 5-10 pic but u say he should bypass the. 20-30$mil and come back...man u got it figured out....lol
Nova should be an nfl analyst, then. The guy did what he SHOULD do against lesser opponents. Cannot dog him for that. He's a unanimous all-American, too hard to just give credit where it's due, eh?
Only 1 tackle against GT
0 TFL's and 0 Sacks against Clemson
Only 2 tackles and 0 sacks against USF
0 Sacks against NC State, only 1 TFL
0 Sacks against Duke
Only 2 tackles and 0 Sacks against VT
Only 1 tackle and 0 sacks against BC
Not sure how this is doing what he " should " against lesser opponents
lolz at " sacks mean nothing to NFL scouts "
Terrell Suggs has the NCA record for sacks in a season, almost double what Werner did this past season
Comparing Werner to Suggs is pure comedy at this point
NOVA: "He played nobody this season and his stats are a direct result, lots of NFL teams will take this into consideration cause they aren't Nole homers..."
