Arizona just shut out UCLA 4-0
I'm not worried. I think we just had an off day against Arizona.
We have won 3 in a row recently, just time to do it again.
tough part will be beating Arizona 2 straight
If I had to say that we had an off day it would have to have been at the plate.
Our pitching held the hottest hitting team to 3 runs in 9 innings. In college baseball that is usually a win.
Unless Arizona's and UCLA's remaining pitchers perform better than what they have all season, we should be able to score some runs for Sitz and Weaver. We lucked out being in the bracket with two teams with one starter having sub 4.00 era.
UCLA thought the same thing going against Konner Wade, who they beat handily during the regular season. Things don't always show up that way in Omaha, we need to be ready to go out an take care of business and not act like these guys, or whomever Arizona would throw, will be any less than a stud.
I for one don't think it will be particularly easy to take the next three. I would put the odds very, very low that it gets done. BUT, I do believe the last 3 CWS winners how come out of the loser's bracket so it isn't impossible. We are going to have to face Heyer again to do it and I think we probably ought to swing earlier in the count as we aren't going to chase him with Lopez as the coach. It will strictly be 130 pitches unless we completely bomb him. If we make it past UCLA, we'll likely see their #3 guy and if we win that, we will see Heyer one last time. That is a tough road.
I think Arizona would throw Heyer on Thursday in the first of 2 possible FSU games. If they hold him until Friday, he is likely not going to be able to throw in the Finals if they get there. If we get past UCLA, Thursday would likely be a Leibrandt/Heyer rematch.
Water is just beer that hasn't reached its full potential.
Zona would likely try and win the first game with its #3 to set its rotation for the championship series. Then they have Heyer just in case. That's what I think FSU would have done if it were 2-0. AZ could choose to throw Heyer and then its #2 if they lose.....that's obviously not what we'd prefer.
So you think Arizona throws Heyer on Friday if needed, basically removing him from consideration to pitch in the finals? I doubt it. 90% chance they throw him Thursday so he is ready for the Finals.
Right, that's why I specified: if they perform like they have all season.
I mean, we're throwing Sitz. Have no idea how anybody could have much confidence. I'd be happy if he could give us 4 innings without giving up 5 runs.
He pitched good vs UF this season. If he throws strikes, I think we'll be ok.
What does everyone think about UCLA?
Well shit, we may as well just pack it up, cancel the game, and head on back to Tallahassee...I personally don't know how you can have any confidence in your posts, I'd be happy if you could give us 4 days without garbage posts.
By the way, how's that prediction of FSU losing in regionals working out for you?
Must suck to have someone piss in your cheerios every morning.
