I would love to see an Air Raid type offense here. The recruiting that is available to us would certainly make us explosive and fun to watch. Combine that with our D, and would could start another Top 5 streak.
one that can execute.
Our offense is awesome. Whatever the defense does, we have a counter for it. Case in point last night. They loaded the box and sold out to stop the run, so we beat them through the air. We don't need to do anything with our offense other than keep growing.
"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
You can't have an offense like that and expect the same defensive output. Drives are too quick and defenses are on the field too much.
Control the clock and keep the defense well rested. I would rather have a 7 minute TD drive that wears out their defense and keeps our defense well rested instead of a 2 minute TD drive that has our defense on the field immediately after they just got off the field. By the 2nd half your team is at 90% while the other team is at 60%. That's why it drives me insane when we have so many 3 and outs on offense in the first half because you know the defense is going to be feeling that later in the game.
Well coached, well managed, well called, poised.
Dude, that gimmick crap is unsustainable and doesn't work against top opponents.
So, ours. Glad we agree.
I would like to see our offense move at a faster pace. Ej seems to be way more comfortable doing that. I like our offensive style. I just thibk when we push the pace our offense is much better
I do agree with this. Faster pace would be somewhat better.
the 1 we saw at the end of the second half in at the end of the first half. up tempo.
Thanks for the input guys. Just wondered what the opinions were.
Wow, pretty happy with most responses. I agree that it isn't the style of O we're runnin that's the problem. And I personally am not on the "bad playcalling" band wagon.
What I want on offense is cohesion. When we run the ball for there to be a two yard gain even on the plays that are stuffed. When we pass the ball for blitzes to be picked up most of the time. Instead I'm seeing running plays that either gain 8 plus yards, or lose 5. And we're losing against the blitz at least a majority of the time. I'd say a high majority of the time, but that may just be perception, as you always notice and remember the bad, as opposed to the good.
It may be that our tackles inexperience really puts us in a high risk/high reward type of offense. I have no doubt that barring injuries Watson and Cam have NFL potential (likely even starting NFL potential). So what we're getting is guys who can maul on one play and miss on the next (or substitute play with game, as it seems to be game to game that they struggle or dominate). Maybe due to their inexperience, they allow bad plays to multiply. Thinking about what they just did wrong instead of the snap count. The ability to throw away a bad play is one of the last things to come in the maturation process.
