South Broward hired former Florida State receiver Kez McCorvey as their new football coach. McCorvey was most recently coaching receivers for the CFL's Toronto Argonauts.
Northeast's Donnell Bennett officially resigned. Bennett was the coach of FSU target and Miami signee, wide receiver Stacy Coley.

And Ice is being rumored as a candidate in several places.
You could see the important connections at key schools change. Brewster's timing is pretty good.
I think Ice remains at BTW until Treon is done (2013 season). Just my opinion.
Are there any prospects at south broward this cycle that fsu is after?

Not that I know of. That team was horrible a season ago.
It's sad that guys who love coaching high school kids and being a well needed gatekeeper at times, are becoming the same people they at times have been trying to protect them from. Many of them are going from telling kids to "do what is best for you" to "come to my school, it's best for you."......"and my bank account."
Why would Bennett resign? Is there something not being said?
I bet a $100 Bennett is at the U within the month
Wasn't there talk at NSD of Bennett joining the U in some capacity? Will try to find article/ link later today.
Bennett probably shows up in one of those "support" staff positions at the U

Sounds like those no longer exist.
Na...they are beyond bad. 0-10 last year
Help me out with the logic here. Wouldn't Kez make more money coaching for a professional team than coaching for a high school? I live in Ohio, and high school coaches are supplemental positions, meaning it's usually just a few grand a year. No one's job is exclusively coaching high school football. Wouldn't make any money.
I can't speak for Florida, but in Georgia the coaches are always teachers of everything from history to PE. There are community coaches who get paid a couple grand a season, which sounds like how the head coaches in your area are affiliated with your schools. However, those community coaches are NEVER the head coaches at the varsity level and rarely at even the middle school level at any sport.
No, it's usually the same way. Coaches are teachers, hence the supplemental salary. I know Kez doesn't have an education degree or teacher certification, so how is he making any money just coaching a high school football team?
Not every county in Ga requires their coaches to teach.
I live in south GA and our football coach made very close to 100k. The booster club supplements his teaching salary. I don't think he actually had to teach since he was also the AD. Football is serious business here. It is crazy.

There are ways around the teaching requirement. You can apply for a waiver literally every year to stay eligible.
This is correct. Booster clubs pay a portion above and beyond the teacher salary. There are several coaches making 80-100k in NW Florida. There are several coaches in Okaloosa county pushing 6 figures in total pay.
True, the third highest paid coach in Camden probably between him and his wife made 250-300K including the perks and benefits.Golf club memberships, free truck to drive till 15k was on the odometer, then get another new one.No classes to teach,38 assistant coaches. He left for a small school in Athens, can draw on his pension and recruit now that he's at a private school.
