This is effing ridiculous. Every year its the same bullshit. We are in it early for lineman and then get left hanging on NSD. Fire this bum and hire who ever else wants the job because Im pretty sure they can do a better job at recruiting lineman than what we have. Hell since Jimbo likes to run the show anyways why not let him coach O-line as well.
I agree, Trickett is rather shallow and pedantic

I love March recruiting-cliff jumpers.
was waiting for the "we have plenty of time " crowd.
His recruiting is going to set back our ball club from competing for national championships
Wait, so you guys don't like Trickett? News to me.
No cliff jumping. At this point it's a pattern. I'm not one who belongs in the 'kids don't want to play for Trickett' crowd. But it's pretty obvious that he gets outworked on the trail every single year. It's the one unit on our squad that's preventing us from being truly elite.
Remember Mark Mchale and Jimmy Heggins? What was the knock on them (recruiting)? Perhaps Trickett isn't the problem and the pasture isn't greener. The staff recruits as a unit.
"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
Great thread, we need more like this
The staff recruits as a unit... But the position coach is the closer and has the final impact. We have lead for tons of quality OL but when it comes down to getting visits and commitments it never happens. That is Tricketts fault we have tons of 5*s at every position but OL please apply your logic to that
Yeah because he has been tearing it up recruiting during his entire tenure here. Move along to another thread.
Why is OL the only position of struggle? If your a top OL, why wouldn't you wanna play at FSU?
Heggins did a good job for awhile, the Bowden used him to buy more time.
I love blind Trickett homers
We have a depth chart that should SCREAM get your asses here boys you can play from day one and none of them give a damn. Somethings up.
It's Possible. Though at this point I'm down with giving those pastures a look-see.
That was sort of my point. OL is the only position we've struggled to recruit and that's been a constant for maybe 15 years now, spanning several coaches.
Heggins seldom produced an effective rush unit. The unit was often labeled as a finesse unit.

Lets reach out to Alabama's OLINE coach..
They had somewhat of a decent O-line last season..
Yes, shallow and pedantic.
Three W's In My Life: Ward, Weinke, and Winston
Don't get me wrong, I am ready for a change, but I don't think we'll see us start pulling 5-stars at the rate that we pull defenders and skill guys.
The biggest change that needs to be made is in the number game and so far this year, we seem to be attempting to fix that. We've offered a lot of lineman. In past years we offered very few early on. We'll see if that approach works.
Also, we should be a huge emphasis on Georgia for lineman. Florida produces very little lineman and most of them are typically smaller than desired (270-280). Georgia is always producing large lineman that supply the SEC. It's easier to get Georgians on campus more often than it is to get central and south Floridians.
Your right, offensive lineman hate warm weather, females, and top 10 football programs
GTFO with that shit
No kidding. Heggins OL's couldn't run block? lol.
We are extending lots of offers to linemen we have no shot at getting.
What I want to know is: are we extending serious offers to linemen we DO have a shot at getting? And by that I mean we need to be seriously pursuing 2- and 3-star linemen who would be surprised and honored to play at a program like FSU, and who have the potential to develop into serviceable D-1 linemen.
What I mean is that when all the 4- and 5-stars have disappeared from the board, I don't want us caught with our pants down. I'd be thrilled with a class full of Sterling Loveladys. By the time the highly-rated guys have vanished from the board and it's clear we aren't getting any of them, we can't have the Loveladys and the Storks already committed to USF, N.C.State and Wake Forest. We're gonna need those guys.
We should be purusing, and accepting commitments from, at least some of them.
