Honestly, I don't think we can let him leave. He's too important in South Florida when it comes to recruiting. I'm pretty sure that's a MAJOR reason Stoops wants to take him with him to Kentucky. I hope Fisher decides to hand the reigns over now, and keep this lock down on South Florida. With UM trending down, there are just too many recruits that we may loose to uf in the process.
I think if we had to lose a coach, he would be one of them that could go.
I don't think we have struggled to recruit in a long time, so it wouldn't really be that big of a loss.
I think Craig, O'dell, Dawsey, and Gran would be worse losses recruiting wise.
The loss would have a huge impact, one to a level fans would not understand.
Won't discuss publicly, but rest assured he is 100% ready to be OC.
You're dead wrong.
Way, way off the mark.
But can the relationship between Jimbo and him change to allow him the leeway to become a real OC, including calling plays?????
atgreek, Heard that he is already gone and accepted the job.... I know you cant/wont comment on it, but do you think jimbo would keep him around and let him call the plays here to keep him?
I don't know what Jimbo would do.
I think Coley's gone for sure. I'm just expressing that the loss is huge.

Coley leaving means jimbo does not trust him as a playcaller. It also means that jimbo will need to hire an offensive coordinator and that will increase the pressure to hire a playcaller.
Losing Coley will ding us hard in recruiting. He is the best recruiter on the staff but we need to worry less about recruits and more about what will improve this team on gameday. Jimbo worrying about being a head coach and getting a playcaller will mean we have a better coach every Saturday
I can't discuss this, but Coley is ready and when he feat success elsewhere, guys will be clamoring to have him back.
Recruiting isn't difficult at a place like fsu. Right now we need to win and hiring a play caller should help accomplish that.
I have no problem with that. If he seasproves himself to beta good OC elsewhere, he'll get looks. FSI can't afford for a learning curve. His sole season as an oc at fiu saw them average 269 ypg.
I know for a fact he has not accepted the Kentucky OC job.

I know you're good friends with James, but this move is a no brainer for him career wise.
I fail to see how he would turn it down without FSU making changes.
The Future is Now.
Please stop with nonsense.
Who cares what he did during his one and only year calling plays at FIU?
I'd rather him be calling plays than Jimbo. He could not be any worse.
atgreek, you sound pretty bitter towards Fisher and FSU, or maybe Im misreading your posts. Are you upset with things at FSU?
Burley Nole 4 Life!
His son is coached by Coley so I'm sure he's not happy if Cole leaves.
I've been saying this for awhile and no one has been listening. There is going to be heavy staff turnover. I guarantee you other coaches have realized this and negative recruited us. But whoever leaves, will be replaced by someone that is more than capable. I think if Coley leaves Jimbo will be forced to hire an OC that will call the plays. No one wants to be the OC by title only from outside the program. Craig won't do it either IMO
