I have negative article after negative article every where.
What are they mad about?
A lot of the articles are just mad that we let NIU hang around until the 4th Quarter, and that the game was to boring to them. We were bascially put in a no win situation last night
The only reason why I watched the game yesterday was to see Maria Taylor on the sidelines.
They're not mad. Need to sell papers/clicks. Saying FSU beats the spread against a team that "We" allowed to get in the BCS when they should not have been there does not move the meter.
News isn't news unless it's negative. How often do you see a positive news story these days?
They don't "hate" FSU. They are overreacting because they bought into the hype preseason yet again. When a team under achieves what the media sets out for them the media in turn will focus on your shortcomings.
What you should be mad at is your preseason ranking and hype. Not how the media is reacting now.
Currently listening to SVP/Rusillo who is interviewing Pollack.
SVP: "Is Jimbo Fisher a great coach?".
Pollack: "He's a great recruiter, that's for sure"...then went on to basically say that nobody has any idea what the identity of the FSU offense is, and that he's baffled why EJ doesn't run more. Wondering how that team only scored 16 points against an NC State team that Vanderbilt just rolled.
12-2 with a conf. Championship and bcs win is not underachieving a preseaon rank of 7.
It's accurate. FSU needs an identity. Something they can lean on when things go south.

Yep. Don't disagree.
I don't hear "hate", but there is a sense of perplexity. Lotta mentions of above average offensive talent being wasted
I think its under achieving. Preseason rankings mean squat to me.
You returned a ton of starters on both sides.
5th year senior at QB.
Very VERY manageable schedule.
Most pegged you as a NC title contender. You underachieved with what you had
I really think that's all it is. Look at LSU, their offense blows every year. They win with defense, that's their identity. Look at Oregon, their defense blows every year. They win with offense, that's their identity.
Both teams I highly regarded nationally.
Screw the national media! Did anyone else see the stats of non BCS vs BCS schools in previous bowls? More often then not the Non BCS teams have won. That includes Bama vs. Utah, Boise St vs Oklahoma. FSU beat the hell out of a QB that finished with votes for the Heisman and ran his mouth about one of the top defenses in the country. Was It the best bowl choice for teams? Not really, but FSU didn't make the matchup, they simply played who the BCS had to pick. We were damned if we won and even more damned if we lost. GO Noles!
+1 on Maria Taylor
Very few are going to admit this on here...
Jeff Cameron did a poll in the beginning of the season and 12-2 was the MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE performance agreed to by the vast majority of respondents. 90% of respondents had higher expectations.
12-2 = C
13-1 = B
14-0 = A
Jimbo earned a C... but if you judge it looking at a 5/6 year window, it's easy to give it more weight than it truly deserves... The question, is what would Saban/Kelly/Kelly/O-Brien have done with our players and our schedule? The answer is painful.

Recent recruiting success and press +
Ridiculously stacked roster +
Memories of The Dynasy +
Pent up desire to see the NOLES "back" +
National Title hype early in season +
Bad loss to NCState +
Less than a blowout Orange Bowl win =
No win situation with media coverage for FSU.
Contrast that to the insanely positive press Stanford gets for winning an uninspired Rose Bowl against a 7-5 Badger team. Ridiculous. The only thing that re-establishes cred with national media for FSU is a crystal football. Even more ridiculous.
Is anyone really going to say 12-2 with who we played is good. I said a lose to Clem or Fla would be OK but not to NCST and why such a drop on the road. This team looked ave on the road but pretty damn good at home.... WHY the teams we played on the road were ave at best.
I agree, we are doing fine. Are we as good as we were in the 90s No. But I'm not sure any team will ever match that. Different times and Circumstances. If that is what the media and some fans are waiting for I would say don't hold your breath and keep dreaming fairy tales.
Yep and we won 12 games, a conf. Championship and a bcs bowl game. Thats not underachieving. We were in the hunt until the last week. Our dynasty was 14 years straight, how many bowl games did we play for the championship?
You can't honestly be proud of the ACC championship this year. You beat GT a 500 team that backed into the game because the two teams in front of them were in eligible.
Ill give you the BCS bowl championship because we are both in similar situations playing lesser competition.
We were preseason #7. We will finish #9 or 10.? Where is the huge underachieving to which you are referring? However, the reason the press is annoyed with us is because we did not win by 50+ just to further show NIU never belonged.
Honestly, it is underachieving considering the schedule. We were out of the hunt the night we lost to NC ST.
In Some years we do need to be as good as we were in the 90's. Let's start with a one year run being as good as we were in the 90's.
I agree that if we always sucked for our whole history the expectations would be lower. And we would not be building an IPF or spending 2.8 million on a coach, etc.
However we did underachieve this year given our talent and schedule regardless of our success in the '90's.
I don't know what to say if you think playing for an mnc with this schedule is a fairy tale. It should happen a few times a decade with this conference schedule.
