I've been lurking for a while now, and have tried to decipher WTF it is you want from this program and I think I got it now. "The beginning of the 3rd quarter was eerily similar to other situations that FSU has faced this year" gave it away.
You want the game over by halftime. Go root for the Gators sir, their game was over by halftime.
Don't let the spear skewer yer ass on the way out.
The script Tim mentioned and the one I'm talking about is exclusive to this year. How every game seemed to have the same tenuous feel despite our being in control. I have no doubt Jimbo isn't satisfied. I believe he wants to win badly. But I don't have the confidence in him to do the right thing. Why did it take him 3.5 quarters to realize NIU couldn't stop the inside run? He's running end arounds, options to the short side and deep fades on third and five. Why does he have to turn an Easter egg hunt into brain surgery? You have a 6-4 QB. On 4th and inches, you QB sneak. Textbook. But we're handing off to a back seven yards deep.
That script allowed many undermanned opponents to stay with us longer than they should've. You cant blow every team out. I get that. Even our great teams had some clunkers. And upsets will happen. But this year's squad showed this disturbing tendency all year. Take control and then let your foot off the gas. We saw players making the same mistakes. The same mind-numbing east/west run plays that haven't worked in a particular game, run to death. Mistakes will happen like I said. But when you make the same ones over and over it's nerve-wracking to say the least.
I'm not going to qualify every criticism with how I want Jimbo to win and how I'm happy with what he's done for the program. I've repeated both sentiments too many times. I'm rooting for him. But "tighten up"? Yes he needs to because it just shouldn't be this hard.

Very good post. Pointing out the problems without trashing the team. Hard to argue.
Dees > you
Your opinion < pile of shit
Thank you. The OP is suggesting that if we've been critical of the team then we think they "suck." Some have even suggested that certain posters "hate" the Noles because they have high expectations. Ridiculous. Things are not black and white.
The Future is Now.
If you're calling for a coaching change you pretty much think they suck. Own it.
Saying the jury is out on Jimbo is just having a brain-it has nothing in common with saying the team sucks. Two different things.
Saying Jimbo needs to let an oc call plays and pare down the offense may be stating the obvious but doesn't mean we think the team sucks. It just means what it says,.
you must not have a brain: Own it.
We are 5-1 which is great and 0-1 when we play a rival that is actually finishes in the top 25. Hell, jeffy was better than .500 against uf and um when they weren't ranked at the end of the season.
Samuel Clemons making an appearance again.
Just to give the 5-1 a point of reference.
As to any script, the national media which uses the phrase "the script" for us the script is us underachieving. You can spin it however you but neutral observers think we have underachieved for 2 years running. It is your right to disagree. It is our right to agree based on our own analysis.
It doesn't mean we think FSU sucks. It does mean we think FSU should have been better.
I am curious how the Wake, UVA and NC St losses in a 2 year span are rationalized by the posters attacking the national press' analysis of our program. 3 of those losses in 2 year is Ron Zook territory.

You're just a jack ass. Own it. Bans from everywhere prove it. I don't give a shit what some analysts say. This team lost Greg Reid, Brandon Jenkins, Tank Carradine, Chris Thompson, and Amp was never the same. That is 23% of your starting group. That is not the team that got the preseason hype. Analysts talk out of their ass, which is why you're so busy.
This is a good post. There is a group of posters who are clearly sunshine pumpers, and another group that think that you suck if you don't always win, but most are in between.
Most think FSU had a good season, and that the program is significantly better than it was before Jimbo, but they also know that FSU is still not a great football team and that the 2012 Noles should have been better than they were, which is cause for some concern.
Stop being so simple-minded. It's not black and white.
If you're asking for Jimbo to be replaced, there is nothing grey about that. Stop putting up ridiculius posts. I can understand if you want him replaced and respect that, but don't talk out of both sides of your mouth.
This is the only site i belong to. I have been banned from gatorbait in the distant past but that should be badge of honor on this board. If all you have got is "You are a jack ass" then it is clear those of us on the side of rational thought have won the argument and it is time for you to stop looking foolish and move on to another topic because you cannot add anything but name calling to this discussion.

Thanks. I find that I agree with aspects of both sides of the discussion i.e. we had a really good season and our season should have been better. Though I tend to lean more to the latter. I find it possible to be both pleased and displeased at the same time but about different aspects of the team or the player.
Take EJ. By all accounts a phenomenal human being and leader. He's a very good representative of FSU; smart, personable, hard working. Seems to be respected by everyone on the team. Put up great numbers this year and had some very memorable moments throughout his career. Expectations were elevated this year. He had some heisman hype at a school where two heisman qb's won national titles. Whether fair or unfair I was comparing him to them. He just didn't quite get to their level, and came up a bit short at key moments. Making bad reads. Panicking in the pocket. Doesn't mean I hate him. Just wish he'd been a bit better.
Let me type this slowly so perhaps you can understand what I'm saying more clearly. I never said, "Let's replace Jimbo." Someone on a thread last night said, "Let's fire Jimbo and hire Strong." I agreed. While I like Jimbo (I'd like him a whole lot more if he gave up play calling) there are several coaches I like more. Strong is one of them. Shaw is another. I like Saban quite a lot as well. Would you take Saban over Jimbo? You bet your ass you would. Does that mean you want to replace Jimbo? Probably not. Stop being foolish and small-minded.
Oh, give me a freaking break. Talk about splitting hairs. You've been complaining all year and now you're back pedaling. Whatever dude.
I wasn't talking to you pal, but NoVa. I have no problems with you other than the fact you can't seem to enjoy yourself. Several posters seem to agree. Just enjoy some football, even if it's ugly sometimes.
i am happy with a 12-2 year but think this team lacked heart and leadership ( player and coach ). We did not play good on the road it was as if we just were happy to get a win. At home we are aggressive and a fun team to watch but on the road we play not to lose.
Lacked heart and leadership ? false
At home FSU is aggressive ? like against UF ? hell besides UF and Clemson... FSU probably had the easiest home schedule in america, no kidding they looked more aggressive against Duke, Wake, Savannah St and so on
Doesn't mean its a difference in philosophy or approach from the players, come on man

I am just happy we won the ACC and the OB. I think some have forgotten how bad it was during the last few years of BB.
I think Fisher makes some mistakes in playing calling, but everyone makes mistakes. He has the program heading in the right direction. Good kids, good deapth, and good coaching.
I think some are too impatient at times.
Enjoy the wins....it's been a while

A lot of teams have easy home schedules. Saying besides Clemson and UF is saying a lot....how many teams had more than 2 top 10 schools (Clemson and UF will both finish top 10 most likely) come to their house?
Doesn't take away from my point which you clearly missed
FSU isn't more " aggressive " at home, they just weren't a consistent offense this season and most teams are worse on the road but it has nothing to do with a different attitude away from home
You've been on this site for 2 months, yet I've been complaining all year? How the hell would you know?! Go back to Warchant.
