..is kinda getting annoying.
I get. EJ sucks. We have no discipline. Jimbo is average at best.
You've made these same arguments for 4 months.
Take five minutes and ACTUALLY be happy for winning a BCS bowl and winning 12 games
This is an achievement that C. Ponder, R. hudson, A. Datko, G. Jones, L. Washington, E. Sims, L. Timmons, A. Boldin, A. Cromartie, L. Booker, E. Brown among many others never did.
Were not playing football next Monday. But winning the Orange bowl really isnt that bad of a consolation prize
Now it's wait until next year. It'll get worse.
Not with another 12-2 year it won't. They'll STFU or look like idiots after predicting 3-4 losses.
They look and sound like idiots NOW anyway.
Not we sucked but rather we underachieved. 15 teams could have gone 12-2 with this schedule.
furthermore, we saw little improvement in play as the year went on and little improvement in offensive play calling as the year went on.
At least we started catching punts after our special teams coach was shown the door. Btw, Beatty improved a lot during the year.
I trust you are aware we are now 3-2 against teams with a winning record. Make that 4-2 I forgot about VT over Rutgers.

We lost one head scratcher and lost to a top 5 team that we should have beaten. We took care of everything else. I'll take 12-2, ACC Champs, and OB champs every year from here to eternity.
Agree with everything, but posts like this will get no where with the crowd you are talking about. They simply aren't smart enough to see how far this program had fallen to agree that it takes time to build things back up. Just enjoy the season, and roll your eyes at the stupidity, because its exactly that. TNOLES wont ever get it, and if you haven't figured him out yet, its a moving target with him, if we ever run the table he will just complain that we didn't score enough, or that Jimbo looked at someone the wrong way, or the gold on the uniform is off, or the field wasn't painted right, blah blah blah. Point being, he and others like him just like to hear themselves bitch.
I think the perception of this whole season turns on the NC State game. All of our problems were very evident in that game and we could not overcome them. When those same problems appeared in other games, there became real concern about the long-term expectations for the program. Add on to that, that we have long-term problems on the offensive line due to years of bad recruiting (except for the class two years ago) and the fact that we are losing a lot of really good players on defense and there is genuine concern about where the program is heading.
Ive always been and always will be a Nole! Think we had a National Title contender so im alittle disapointed we aint playing in Miami for all the marbles but its hard to complain with 12 W's and a BCS bowl win! Even with all the loses i really like our team for next year!
I dont think a lot of people on here think we suck, just we underachieved. This team while winning 12 games, showed the same mistakes as it has done in previous years. I am very critical of Jimbo because of this and his questionable play calling. If you look at the first few games this year and the last couple you dont see a noticeable improvement that you should expect as an elite team.
Orange Bowl win is great, I would like to see Jimbo take us up a notch next year and make us true Championship contenders. Not sure what my expectations will be with a new QB, tougher schedule, but here is to hoping we take the next step.
We had a mod on here saying the game was following the same script as the others. I wouldn't lump him in with the "complainers" but he didn't get slammed for it. I get that the constant whining about things gets old. And the personal attacks on players are uncalled for. But I can't fault anyone for being nervous about the program going forward. Its quite possible Jimbo has maxed out here. He's done wonderful things pulling this program into the modern era. But can he put us over the top? I'm just not sure. Not until he shows he can learn from his mistakes.
It's his playcalling and his work with the offense more than anything.
If our head coach was a defensive guy and jimbo was the oc he would probably be fired.
Someone is now going to post about ejs completion % even though half his throws are bubble screens and our yardage rankings even though our offense completely blew it in our two losses and nearly blew it against VA tech and nc st. Offense underperformed every single time we took the field outside of doak. At what point does jimbo the good Coach get forced to fire jimbo the awful playcaller? That's when we hit expectations
d in texas,
ah, the annual headscratcher. you may find 1-2 headscratchers a year acceptable, I do not.
Losing to a top 5 team at home that had less talent than us really less than accetpable as well. if we had beaten a few top 10 teams then maybe. I found it unsettling we came out flat for the game.
will we be satisfied with 12-2 with another headscratcher and a top 5 loss? No. The headscraters need to end. We need to go years between headscratching losses.
we're not more talented than uf (if we are it's very slight). they've got NFL guys all over their roster. i did think we were the better team though. just can't give up 5 turnovers and expect to win against most teams.
knowing what we know now, did we underachieve? yes. looking back we lost because we were inconsistent and turned the ball over too much offensively. we got in our own way and cost ourselves an undefeated season.
going into the season would you have taken 12-2 acc and orange bowl champs? i think the vast majority of us here would have been very pleased. we had fallen a long way as a program. struggling to make bowl games some years. 31 wins in three years is a big turn around.
Jimbo's learning how to be a head coach. We're learning how to be a top 10 program again. The bar is officially raised now. 10+ wins, conf championships, and bcs bowls will hopefully become the norm again now as we're learning what it takes to get there.
"Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
There's a difference between what Tim said and what some posters are saying. Here's the thing, that "script" has allowed for 31 wins in 3 seasons; including a 3-0 bowl record, ACC title, BCS win and a 4-1 record versus our rivals. Are there things that need to be tightened up with the program? Sure. Are we heading in the right direction? You bet your ass. Fisher himself said he isn't satisfied with this season.

no, there is no difference in saying that this win followed a script and all of us saying it looked like a lot of our other games. It is the same exact thing. Why hasn't tim been slammed? It's a fair question.
This was not "It went according to the script drawn up by FSU in preparing for the game." it was, "Fsu has already seen this script play out many times this year."
Outgain an opponent 7.12-3.55 YPP, and not have a huge lead because of missed FG/O'Leary fumble/WR drops?
This was very different. Dominated a lesser opponent on both sides of the ball. Looked absolutely nothing like NCSU/VT.
This is college football. Headscratching losses will always happen.
I don't find that I have to choose b/w black and white i.e. we suck or we're great. Things are usually a bit more complicated than that. Last night for example I was loving the way our defense was playing and I was incredibly frustrated with our offensive execution and/or play calling in key moments. Then our offensive execution in key moments improved and I wasn't frustrated by it anymore.
No, it didn't, but what does that matter? No matter how we got there, the beginning of the 3rd quarter was eerily similar to other situations that FSU has faced this year, with mixed success.
Regardless of how they got there, someone didn't do their job. Whether that person was EJ Manuel, Jimbo Fisher, Kelvin Benjamin, Nick OLeary, Brian Stork, or Menelik Watson, it doesn't matter.
Guys made big mistakes all the same, and we ended up in the exact same spot. With a team that had no business being on the field with us in striking distance. Somewhere that many fans obviously didn't feel they should've been.
We underachieved but still had a successful season. We could have taken that next step and actually been a legit contender this year but maybe next year. We were 1-1 in the only games that should have been challenging and lost to a team we had absolutely no business losing to. It's still mind boggling. I'm happy for the players and their accomplishments this year, but many of us expected more especially after we beat Clemson. Maybe we shouldn't have such high expectation for our team, but then again that also shows the amount of confidence we have in our team's talent and know they are better than that.

I think Fisher said it best when he said the season was successful, but not satisfying. The program is still hungry.
This post has been awarded the Uncle Nash Shoulder Patch seal of approval. And that's 5-1 over our rivals the past three years, but close enough, close enough.
