3 DE to nfl and may not feel much of a drop off, nasty
FSU -->----->> The Unconquered Uprising
Just imagine if Werner and Jenkins decided to return for their Sr years
Remember the old days at FSU, we don't rebuild we reload... I feel the scheme will fit this group much better than the scheme that Stoops had. This is no knock on Stoops, however at FSU we have always been aggressive, and I feel that's what we are about to get back to. Knocking heads off and playing to the echo of the whistle... Man I can't wait for Spring Ball, I may have to make a trip to Tally again.
I was thinking today that we could start our new 3-4 alignment with Casher at Jack and Thomas at Will.
Obviously some upperclassmen there as well such as Terrence Smith and CJones, etc. But dang, those are prototypes.
I would not be surprised myself. I don't think Mario would like it, but oh well I guess. It's entirely possible that as big as he is, unless he's the freak of nature we all want him to be, that a DE in a 3-4 might be his NFL destination. With our DT depth, we could rotate the snot out of them and see almost no drop off. We could even move Karlos up and let him unloose on the QB as well. Jones is going to be the guy we want under Pruit anyway, but in a 3-4 I think he could just go out there and be a Jarvis Jones type.
God I hope you're right, but I think that's yet to be determined. My opinion of any potential drop off is that it's hard to replace 2 srs and a jr that were all 1st rounders while playing at FSU, with 1 guy that hasn't played in a game yet and the other still a little green.
The other thing to keep mind of is that all our defensive players are going to stack their stats the first 3 games. We won't really know who is where development wise until maybe as long as the clemson game.
Jeez, every time I look at that schedule I think it gets better and better. I mean we open vs a team that is losing a TON, then 2 cupcakes to work on things before 2 games vs legit D1 teams, all to warm up to clemson on the road. I mean it can't get set up any better than that.
Soooo much talent. So little experience.
