Miami is in the process of deciding what to do about its postseason plans, a decision that could prevent the Canes from playing in the ACC championship game—even if they win the Coastal Division.
The ACC has told Miami to make its intentions clear before the ACC title game, and that the Canes will not be allowed to play in the title game should they self-impose bowl sanctions to lessen looming NCAA sanctions.
The decision, really, is about current players vs. the future of the program. Either give current players a chance to win a championship, or take another bowl ban, look proactive to the NCAA and likely not have to deal with more postseason fallout when sanctions linked to booster Nevin Shapiro finally are announced.
I have a better, more cynical (and realistic) way of looking at it: You’re going to jeopardize the future of the program to possibly beat a team (FSU) in the ACC championship game that you lost to earlier this season? And if you win, your prize is a spot in the Orange Bowl (your home stadium), where you’ll play Big East champion Louisville (Zzzzzzzz) in front of, what, 20,000 fans?
Really, Miami is debating this?

So we will play Duke in the ACCcg if Miami chooses not to go ACC

Duke, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech would all have a shot, as of today, if Miami were to ban themselves.
I would rather face Georgia Tech since we have not faced them yet. Either way it goes the coastal sucks, and the Atlantic is has the two best teams.
Do we know which way they are leaning?
"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
How can Clemson win by default and we play them again just for fun. That way it's competitive and it is a game that could help our SOS and bcs standings instead of hurting it. (I kid, kind of)
This whole situation is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen.
Kenny Powers: "A true champion will do whatever it takes to rise above. Because surrender is death, and death is for pussies."
I'll take VT again, rather not play GT. Could be a tough matchup coming of a physical, emotionally draining game vs UF the week prior. Plus, only a week to prepare for the option.
I still believe they must take the game because the ACC is going to struggle getting teams Bowl elgible teams this year and the ACC schools need the money for all of the reasons stated many times on this board.
Our conference is shit
Hayes makes a good point, but I think you HAVE to go to the ACC CG if Miami is eligible. Who knows when they'll make another.
Wish there was a way we could get Clemson to play us in the ACC Championship Game if we win out.
They'll play. How the heck can he sell the program if they back down from a possible championship?
Would be stupid for them to play. Play a team that absolutely dominated you last time in your home stadium.
They are screwed either way....and I am content with that.
You don't pass up a chance to play for a championship........................
And if you are 99% certain you are going to get raped...and you have a BS opportunist reason....
No question, avoiding the game is the best option, when it comes to recruiting.
What's easier to sell to recruits?
1) We withdrew to avoid NCAA sanctions... you seen how close we held the game down in Miami.... the sanctions are mostly over, come play for us!! Put us over the the edge!
2) We got our asses jacked up TWICE in one year... We fluked a close game the first time.... but were fully exposed and demoralized in the championship game. Come play for FSU's punching bag.
We are their primary recruiting competition, so it's a no-brainer what they should do....
This is the VERY definition of an unfair competitive advantage. The reputation/recruiting damage done in a second loss BY FAR outweighs the damage to their program if they sit this game out.... (money the loss). They should have to ask our permission if they want to puss out of this game.

FSU finally has the defense and DL to shut down GT's option. I would love to slobberknocker that team by 50. Freakin MTSU beat their tails.

Virginia also has a shot if they win out.
As if we needed another reason to be depressed about this conference. This is sad...
how did u dominate miami if they were leading in the first quarter nd yall were up about a touchdown till the 4th thats pathetic that with ure recruitment u didnt just destroy and run over them.
