It is not just football but their basketball team is also being investigated by the NCAA.... Funny but I haven't heard um talk about banning the basketball team from post season play...
Of course not. They had a chance to actually win this time
GO NOLES! / SCALP EM!
Nope, because they're good.
As a Uconn hoop fan, it was rough watching UNC and Miami play in the ACC championship, even though it was entertaining. Uconn was banned because their cumulative GPA wasn't high enough. Yet the Tarheels and Hurricanes have had recent major infractions, but they are both eligible for post season? That's the NCAA for you.
Side note, Larkin was awesome today.
UNC's academic issues did not involve any basketball players or the basketball program. Why do you think they should be punished?
Was just talking about this with some buddies at work. I just laugh when UM's fans think they should just be let off the hook at this point. Sad part is UM's bball team won't be anywhere near as good next year so it won't matter.
I'm thrilled Miami is in this position, because it reveals exactly what they would have done if they thought their football team had a good chance at beating us and making it to a BCS game...
NCAA... make people self-impose prior to the first game of the season or NOT AT ALL. Publicly announce that self-imposing after the season has began = will not be relevant with consideration to your punishment.
The decision was already made, they played in the ACC tourney. So.......
While I agree they should self-impose for acc and ncaa tourney, I recall someone saying all current staff was cleared in any shapiro schemes and any current players were suspended/dismissed, so that's why they will not selfimpose. It is all semantics at this point and just a pissing match now w/ NCAA.
Two things are certain: NCAA is sure it has Miami nailed and Miami fans are sure they will skate free. The truth is somewhere in between...
Miami agreed to allow the NCAA to govern them when they joined. Filing a lawsuit against the NCAA = disregarding your agreement to allow the NCAA to govern you and to allow appeals to be settled through the NCAA's appeal process.
This isn't the same deal as FSU and the "Seminole" mascot... as the NCAA was inventing rules of it's own with us, not using rules that all participating members had already signed off on.
None-the-less, Miami will join hands with Penn State (pedophile U) and be the first two universities to disregard their agreement with the NCAA, and the rules they have previously agreed to follow, and legally fight the NCAA (wasting every participating college's money)
I just hope the NCAA lowers the battle axe on their asses, to prevent this from becoming a recurring trend.
