I am not excited about playing one of our biggest rivals with a guy on their staff who knows our system/plays/tendencies inside and out...
Yes, but our new OC who WILL be calling plays (if Jimbo wants to keep his job) will keep UM on their toes.
The Future is Now.
That is not happening.
ACC schedule can't come out soon enough. Gotta get to the UM game this year.
i hope you are right but im not sold this happens. just bc he offered it to Coley to keep him from leaving doesnt mean its up for grabs now...
Can't you say the same thing as a Miami fan? Coley has no knowledge on our new defensive scheme.
Well i will say this. he doesn't know what kind of defense we will run.
Also, and it isn't even close. Jimbo Fisher as a coach >>>>>>>>>>. James Coley
You know this? How?

What was I thinking? This is Jimbo we're talking about. Of course he's going to continue calling plays. More vanilla coming to a stadium near you.
I absolutely don't know this.
i was merely pointing out that coley should know pretty well what jimbo like to do, and when he likes to do it. that is a benefit to them. but no he doesnt know our defensive scheme
one can hope
Yes, one can hope.
And vice versa.
We are going to be running a very different defense than we ran with Stoops.
Maybe we have to change signals or calls but that it done what, 4-5 times a year anyway so teams do not pick them up.
given Jimbo's personality type, I suspect that the chances of someone else calling plays next year just ended.
As to knowing Jimbo's offensive tendencies, are you sure that Jimbo actaully knows them? Yes, tongue in cheek. However, i suspect Um could have picked up the same things looking at film.

Good to see you back. Its been awhile. Interested to get your take on this.
Is he coaching on the defensive side now?
Somehow I don't think that Jimbo is so static of an offensive mind that he will run the same plays and tendencies with a new QB as compared to EJ.
What will Coley have that the film wouldn't have shown?
Finally, everyone is thinking it is Jimbo who is holding Coley back from being an offensive genius.
Perhaps it is really the fact that Coley has little experience that is holding him back?
When I looked at the current staff, I always thought there were two big question marks. Pruitt and Coley.
Not that they aren't great coaches, just lack experience at their current jobs.
I think it takes much more experience to coordinate a side with a lack of depth and few true playmakers than a side that has playmakers all over the field and good depth.
Coley could hand the entire playbook to any DC and it wouldn't really make a difference. By design, Jimbo's offense is not complicated, it's just run out of many formations.
he will certainly communicate with the defensive coaches. not saying we are going to lose to the Canes bc he has us all figured out, all im saying is it doesnt help. the guy that has been tutored to run our offense the last 4 years now a member of our rivals staff. pretty simple point.
