Their offensive line is more skilled and better coached than ours.
You are kidding right?? This isn't even debatable. Trickett is terrible in recruiting and average on the field. This contract is absolutely ridiculous and he's overpaid big time.
So FSU is shelling out 50-100k as an attempt to curb a facet of negative recruiting w a handful of recruits?
Not only did we keep the worse coach on our staff we severly overpaid him
For the people saying that ufs ol was better than our they do realize that they gave up 39 sacks compared to our 26. With some of our sacks coming because ej sat in the pocket to long. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/1034/p3

And if we swapped QB's, I'd bet the numbers would damn near swap too.... Meaning EJ avoided a lot of sacks that the gators QB would eat in the same position. I consider their OL pretty similiar to ours in pass protection.
The BIG difference is 3rd and 1, they have a much higher chance of success (Run Blocking)... and also (especially in our game), their coach came out with a SIGNIFICANTLY smarter game plan than ours... (more blockers)...
If we had switched to that blocking scheme vs. Virginia Tech, that game wouldn't have been close.
I'm shocked this Trickett thread has more action than the Brewster & Graham ones...hahahaha.

They also ran the ball down our throats on their way to a road victory...
With the patented EJ spin move? EJ didnt know how to throw the ball away which lead to more sacks.
He did that what 3 times during his career at FSU?
If Trickett starts at QB, your going to learn how many sacks EJ avoided (the hard way).
3 times in his career? Are you serious he did it atleast 5 times last year. He didnt throw anything away at all. EJ cost atleast as many as he saved. Either way that doesnt explain the 15 sacks between the two. Also in case you forgot Driskell is as if not more mobile than EJ. Your argument holds zero water
What's hilarious is that I doubt some of the negative commenters here have any idea how intricate ol coaching and schemes are. Hell I bet a lot of y'all do not watch the line specifically much at all during games. There were a lot of times where ej did not account for a blitz presnap. A...lot. That is one area where I expect Clint trickett to be an upgrade.
We had a great line this year. Depth problems suck. Jimbo must account for tricketts lack of recruiting skills. Listen... You really think he will suck up to a recruit or even brag about his accomplishments? No. it takes a certain kind of kid to like his shtick.
Other coaches can and will make up ground for trickett in recruiting. We recruit by region anyway and almost everyone else on the staff is a recruiting ace. We don't need the "dream team." (Eagles version)
"F#@k you, pay me"
I like most of this but Clint will not be the starter. At least I hope not.
The interesting part of this contract, to me, is that private funds account for over half of its dollar value. Be it for whatever reason, the people in power (big money guys), feel it fit to provide this money. I have to believe there is a reason for that. Maybe it is to keep Jimbo pleased, which I somewhat doubt their concern with, or maybe because they are less fickle than many of us, myself included. I want to stay optimistic; this gives me slight reason to. I can certainly say I would like this class of OL to turn out well, otherwise, I will grab a torch and a pitchfork and join the crowd.
Interesting that Rick's contract was extended through Clint's senior season.
