Want to be specific about what system melding issues there are?
We're not a 100% zone team.
the only issue with trickett is hes not good at his job
since being here more than half his recruits have terrible and he has never produced an elite OL
we need a change, the end
Why don't you hit ignore?
How long has Trickett been here?
List each year.
List the head coach.
List the OC.
6 years bobby, jimbo and jimbo, coley. 6 years is enough time to get your guys for the line. He can get the job done against weak dlines but against good dlines he gets his junk pushed in. I'm to the point it is whatever for me though bc jimbo is not going to get rid of trickett.
No, because everyone would only argue the specifics, regardless of the conclusions...The details are complex... and not worth getting bogged down in.
The AD/GM has to look at the results and ignore how great the sum of the individual parts are.
Usf, nc state, miami, virginia tech, and uf.....with our recruiting classes....indicate the coaching talent isnt producing results which are on par with their individual coaching abilities.
Think bellichek vs. Fox.... both are having great seasons and are good coaches.. bellichek is the GM on his team... and makes all hiring decisions... where as elway makes those decisions for fox....because fox has proven he cant handle the responsibility of surrounding himself with a superbowl level staff.
I think fisher is more fox than bellichek.... which means our AD has to be strong and override the decisions which defy logic (like retaining Trickett)
I agree that the excuses are getting old. First it was "we have senior OT's but we're young up the middle. Now it's "we have experienced up the middle but first year starting OT's". But it's the same result, guys are out of position and we can't make a 3ed and 1 with a 225 pound RB. Does EJ hold onto the ball too long? Yes! Does our play calling lead a lot to be desired? Yes! But equally yes is, "Does our OL get run over, around and through against any quality defense"..
his performance hasn't changed regardless who in charge
In other words, the best CEO's generally have a completely different skill set than the department managers... big picture vs. detail oriented... there is no shame in admitting your weaknesses and mitigating.
Our program needs a strong AD terribly bad

Who needs an excuse? our offensive line was pretty damn good this year, with 4 of the starters being underclassmen. The line looks dominant in the future. How are people not excited about this.
This is the same offensive line coach that helped wvu put up impressive numbers, the same guy who had a great line here at fsu just a few years ago
I'll tell you relevance after you list my requests.
Performance hasn't changed is a crock of doo doo.
Coley is OC in title only. You know Jimbo is calling the plays.
Whatever the situation is, it needs to get corrected. We are eaten alive by above average defenses.
Don't try and infuse facts into this argument.
On the contrary, comments in other threads lead me to believe that Coley very much implements and "coordinates" the offense--and then Jimbo on Satrudays fails to "use as directed."
You have to call the game plan you install, or else you get things like the indecision we see in EJ.
Umm... other than Stork, our starting OL had two or three COMBINED starts prior to this season and Stork only a handful at center. In no way is that experience. Our senior tackles that you mentioned weren't even all that good. For some reason, we haven't been able to get many super high rated recruits on the OL here besides the 2011 class and one of those is gone already. If you don't think Trickett can coach after seeing Cam and Menelik play this season then you are dumber than a rock
23,000 dolphins are killed every year in Japan. For pest control. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KRD8e20fBo
"If you don't think Trickett can coach after seeing Cam and Menelik play this season then you are dumber than a rock"
This. Menelik had 1 year of JUCO and a fall camp. Cam had a Spring and a fall.
Come on guys....
Go back and watch Trickett's line in Okalahoma 2010 with a highly mobile 1st round NFL QB Ponder and 5-senior "ALL ACC" lineman... We don't have to keep waiting for "next year" with Trickett. His "SENIOR ALL ACC" line was missing stunts and blocks and getting blowed up at the line of scrimmage. They looked awful.
We've been "one year away" for the past 11 years...
On the bright side, if Trickett stays and Jimbo continues calling the plays and acting as AD/GM of our team... I'll guarantee you we will not be having this argument next year.... because the entire fanbase will have turned on Jimbo at this point... and it will be his last year here.
Trickett may be the best OL coach in the g-damn world... it doesn't matter...it's not working with Jimbo... one of them has to go.
It is working though.
And we played an easy ass schedule. We played what 2 decent defenses all year. Vt held us to negative yards rushing. It is always next year with trickett. When does next year actually become this year.
If working is defined as:
Peaking at 10-2 (in the ACC) or the rough equivalent of (8-4 in the SEC) ... and not being able to beat a top 10 team.
And having down years of 8-4 (in the ACC) or the rough equivalent of (6-6 in the SEC) ... and not being able to beat a top 20 team.
Then it is working... and it will continue working wonderfully.
Notre Dame's record looks better than the team. So what? They are still playing for the NC.
You honestly think a mobile QB is the tell all of an offensive line's effectiveness?
If so, you're not quite reading things right.
100% of OL would rather block for a QB that they know will be where they're supposed to be, rather than one jumping around.
VT was giving us the middle and we refused to take it.
The 4th down conversion play by JWJ was there all day. We kept running zone read and stretch to the outside when they had guys just camping and blitzing from that area.
You can't blame all this shit on the OL. There are way more things at play.
