What do you guys think are our positions of need / # of recruits at each spot for 2013? The top 5 for 2013 article and the gators pricking up two LB's got me wondering.
WR, OL, LB
Running back is going to be a huge position of need FSU will take 2-3 IMO
DE, esp if Werner goes pro and Hicks moves to TE.
this class hit any needs early (QB, stud RB, DE). Next year we have some more glaring needs (OL, WR, RB, LB and DE) but we will also have a much bigger class. I see a full class of 25 next year, and I see Jimbo being just as selective as this year.
One thing I will say is that jimbo needs to personally take over OL recruiting. Trickett is our only coach who cant be trusted in recruiting.
Totally agree with mmusi, OL & WR should be the main focus, as well as, DE, TE, LB (def need a mike), and at least one RB.
Agree also that Trickett may be a good coach, but by far he is the weakest recruiter on our staff.
(?) = Indicates a possible position --> Moody from DB to LB, Stevens from DE to LB, Hicks from DE to TE
(!) = Indicates a legitimate NFL prospect that could declare a year early
Seniors - Vince Williams, Nick Moody(?), Toshomon Stevens(?)
Juniors - Christian Jones(!), Telvin Smith, Jeff Luc
Sophomores - Nigel Terrell
Freshmen - Terrance Smith, Markus Eligwe, Reggie Northrup
Senior - Tank Carradine, Brandon Jenkins
Junior - Bjoern Werner(!), Dan Hicks(?)
Sophomore - None
Freshmen - Mario Edwards Jr, Chris Casher, Giorgio Newberry
we need 3 DEs, 3LBs, 5 OL and 3 WRs. Thats 14. Then we add 11 in various other positions and bring in around 25.
That is not how our recruiting works though. Position coaches do not only recruit their position, but the coaches are divided up by area.
I understand that. Jimbo just needs to take a more proactive role in OL recruiting personally. Not just the recruiting but doing early evaluations and getting offers out earlier. OL is the only position on our roster where we cant lose someone. Our 4th string DTs are better at DT than our starters on OL. I like the 2010 class but we need a top 3 national OL haul this year for the future to be as bright as the present.
Jimbo has made DL a priority. it is time he do the same with the OL. Skill positions will always be fine as a big 3 school in florida. OL needs more attention
