Some discussion has cropped in the last few weeks about some players potentially on the move. I'm just asking what's rumored and what's somewhat concrete (although I guess we won't know for sure until spring).
Karlos Williams - Is he moving to offense? If it's RB would he leapfrog Free or Wild? And if he can't isn't the move somewhat of a waste?
Dan Hicks - We lose Brandon, Tank, Tosh and likely Bjoern after the season. If Hicks moves to offense we look pretty light on experienced DEs. Newberry is still in the mix and we have three (possibly four) ends on the way but I'd personally like to see Hicks stay put. There is no reason why he couldn't play TE in short yardage situations anyways.
Greg Dent - It looks like he's lost in the shuffle at WR but the same can be said of Christian Green at this time last year, who emerged as our third best wideout. Again there is only one football and I personally hope we tighten up our RB rotation this year (I think Jimbo rotates unnecessarily at times). I do however like our wideout rotation and we run enough three and four wide sets to keep everyone, Greg included, somewhat happy.
Derrick Mitchell - Is it a foregone conclusion he goes to the OL? I thought I read he was tearing it up in drills and was redshirted to provide a little separation. If Hicks goes to offense maybe Mitchell can play some end? How big is he now?
Nick Moody - Where does he fit? Too slow for safety, does he have the quickness for LB? I think he still has a home in short yardage.

My realistic hopes.....
Greg Dent to RB
Derrick Mitchell to OL
Toshmon to LB.....I guess
This post has serious potential. Legit questions, OP.
I can see Karlos at WR before RB.
I understand we could lose 4 DE's next year, but TE is more of a need IMO. And the true frosh are going to be special, all 3 or 4 of them.
Dent, I can't worry about the "littles".
Mitchell, if he was going to move I think he would have already done so and we would all know about it. So I don't think he or Newberry will move. It is must mean they have really high ceilings at DT and DE here.
I pray Los doesn't move to RB.......mostly because i think DFree and Wilder are a serious duo, and then throw in Pender, and we are full of talent. Also that would make 3 guys from the same grade our RBs.........not cool.
I would love to see Greg Dent move to defense somewhere if he is going to move, although i would also be fine with him playing RB.
Moody to LB is also fine.
Hicks to TE doesn't make sense to me at all.
Newberry/Mitchell to OL is a good idea to me.
Tosh to LB is a great idea that should have happened in the past, but we had awful depth.
i hope no one switches. i hate position switches. maybe toshmon to lb but thats a 3rd string senior,
Moving Mitchell will not happen. Hes an NFL DL. People have made this move up because he has better height than NLS. Mitchell will get some play this year. I think he will be in the mix of things in 2013. I like him more than I liked Cam Erving last year and I liked Cam a lot. I dont see goldman (if we get him) coming in and beating out mitchell.
Moving Karlos would be a pathetic decision. 3rd string RB (or maybe 4th string) instead of 3rd safety (1st off bench). I would rather Karlos move to OLB. We dont need a RB. I really dont see the FB being a position that gets too much burn this year.
RB Depth chart
Why mess with a player to add a 6th or 7th RB to the rotation? If anything, we need to shorten the rotation. If Freeman and one other guy get hurt then maybe you can move someone but there is no reason to move anyone when freeman and wilder should get 90% of the snaps.
Sure would like Newberry ro OT
Mitchell to OL is not made up.
Pretty much agree with everything you said. I hope everyone stays put except for possibly Moody.
When I read Dent to RB I immediately thought of Parker tearing up Maryland as our RB. That said, I don't think Dent has the build for RB.
I don't want Karlos moving. I don't care how awesome he would be at RB and WR because we have plenty of awesome at those spots. If he doesn't start at S until his junior year then so be it. In the mean time we'll just have to watch him destroy people on kick offs and KRs.
yes it is. no credible source has said this. Someone on one of the boards realized our OL sucks and has been looking for candidates to make the DL to OL switch. Newberry and Mitchell are the two candidates. Newberry is the better candidate and its not even close considering he played OL and was very good coming out of HS while mitchell has never played it but people on the message boards like our DT depth better so everyone has just decided mitchell to OL should happen despite the fact that it would be an absolutely retarded move that wont happen.
Last year during the season I remember hearing about how Erving was tearing it up on the scout team, I never heard that about Mitchell this past year. I think Mitchell could be a good DT but I've always thought he lacked elite explosiveness, I think he could be a great OT. The fact is we have too many DT's, potentially 12. I think McCray gets a MDQ and Stuckey might not make it in but that still leaves us with 10, while at OL we'll have 14. If he is willing to make the change why wouldn't the coaches want that.
Just don't think Newberry has the size for OT. Think Mitchell does.
Bushido and Josh Newberg aren't reputable huh? Noted.
Newberry is 6'5 270, he'd be 290 in 6 months with a position switch.
when did either of them say mitchell to OL?
lol, you speaking so authoritatively and now asking questions.
I love how you pull weights out of your ass. Give it some time, he may be 245 pounds now, but he'll be a lean 310 in 8 months. You really don't know what you're talking about. Switching positions doesn't mean you magically gain weight.
"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
There it is. I haven't been egregiously spoken down to by Crozea in almost a year. I was starting to feel its absence.
Let me play too. Crozea I love how you pull weights out of your ass. 245!? You don't know what you're talking about. Playing DE doesn't mean you magically lose weight. Give it time, he'll be a lean 225 in 8 months."
I can't find the thread but I remember people were speculating that Newberry would move to OT and Bushido stated that Mitchell not Newberry was the DL the coaches were thinking about switching to OL. Newberg posted on the thread that nothing was finalized and that it was still up in the air. Personally I don't believe that Newberry is as big as some are saying so he is probably not an option to move to OT.
You do realize I wasn't talking about Newberry. I was talking in general. You think every player on this team is 6 months away from gaining 20% of their body weight. I love how you just magically know that Newberry can get to 290 pounds in 6 months.
Not to mention Josh has never said Mitchell was going to move to OT. Like musi said, it was a made up move to fix a barren offensive line. I don't know definitively if Mitchell is changing positions or not (I would say not), but please check yourself, because you definitely don't know either.
The moves that have been made aware to us on this website have been Stevens moving to LB, Hicks possibly to TE and Moody possibly to LB. Mitchell and/or Newberry were never mentioned.
People are mad about LOS to RB, but want Dent at RB? Makes no sense. Los was a monster at RB/WR hybrid in high school. A lot of people thought he projected best on offense as a recruit.Dent is a good WR, but has never shown anything special after the catch. He was a damn good DB in high school. Heck Miami wanted him more at DB than WR. If he should move anywhere it's DB or Safety.
I'd really like to see either Dent or Haggins move to DB. We are stacked at WR and have a much greater need at DB. Not too mention they may both be better on defense and have a better chance at making the league at DB.
Moody to fullback. Beverly to CB. Waisome to Qb. EJ to punter: Shaun Powell to Defensive Coordinator. Stoops to auburn.
Any comic fans out there, check out Tart, written by a Seminole Grad, who is incidentally... me.
"Not to mention Josh has never said Mitchell was going to move to OT." This isn't accurate while Josh didn't flat out state that Mitchell was moving to OT he confirmed that it was under discussion by the coaches when he responded to Bushido's post, saying it wasn't definite that it was going to happen.
I asked because you stated they both said mitchell is moving and I dont remember hearing anyone except message board coaches such as yourself creating this move. Anyone who understands football and understands what it takes to play OL mentally wouldnt be saying mitchell to OL. You cant just play OL. It would take a minimum of two years to learn the position. By that time, our OL from last class will start and the OL from 2013 will be the backups. Mitchell would never start so why ruin a good career at DL? And why would mitchell choose to move to a position he has never played? If I were him I would transfer before I switched to OL.
People on message boards requesting these moves never even think to consider whats best for the kid. A good DL with NFL potential doesnt move to a position hes never played because the backups sucks and he might be an improvement at backup
And if Newberg and Bush said this then they are wrong. I really dont care who says this they are wrong.

No he isn't. He lacks the size needed to play the position and DE is a much weaker position than DT.
