Dan Hicks to DE: Will Tye transferring leaves us a little thin at TE, but we have three capable TE's next year. Kerr could play in an emergency. FSU probably needs to take two TE's in 2014.
Giorgio Newberry to OT: I remember watching him hold his own against Clowney in the Under Armour game two years ago. He doesn't seem to be developing like we hoped at DE and we need OT's desperately. We've had success moving DE's to OT before (Erving).
Demonte McAllister to DE: He played DE in high school and if he loses 15-20 lbs I think he would start for us next year. We have plenty of DT's so we can afford to lose one there. I believe he has a better shot at the NFL next year as a DE.
Josue Matias to OT: He could compete with Newberry for the starting job at OT. I think he has pretty good footwork but Canolee could probably give a better assessment.
Bobby Hart to OG: I don't think he has the footwork to play OT. Once again Canolee could assess this better.
Sterling Lovelady to OG: Again I think he projects better at OG. He needs to gain 10-20 lbs.
Karlos Williams to LB: This is the big one. He would probably start at LB next year. Again I believe he projects better as a LB and I think most people would agree. We have plenty of capable Safeties.

Los fits the mold of Pruitt type DBs...
He would be a monster at LB, as we saw in the ACCCG.
Not saying he wouldn't just saying he fits the mold of the type of DBs Pruitt likes. Big, fast physical DBs
Its a little late in the game for Newberry to switch. He'd have to add a lot of weight. In retrospect given our OT dilemna we should've moved him there immediately.
I think DMac stays inside. Although if Pruitt shows some odd fronts he could be out at end.
I'm interested to see where our new DC plays Karlos as well as Lamarcus. To me that's a real intriguing situation.
I agree Hart looks like a guard but he may be forced out to tackle.
Erving moved as a 3rd year Sophmore, Newberry is a true sophomore.
Yes, he had a good game but it's yet to been can he play against the pro style offenses as GT was pure option with poor QB play. I agree he has all the talent to do it but he is still developing well at safety as he gets more PT.
I am for newberry switching to OT, i don't see his ceiling growing at DE compared to a Casher or our incoming guys mainly walker and there were always questions on how Newberry would develop maybe he breaks out this spring and fall.
I'd be surprised if Karlos moved to LB. I think you'll see him get a lot more PT this year as a back up safety switching in and out with Joyner and Brooks. Furthermore, Karlos moving to LB leaves us very thin at safety next year when Joyner and Brooks graduate.
I think Demonte stays at DT. I see him and Jernigen being the starters with McDaniel, Goldman, and NLS getting significant PT in their back up roles.
If Newberry moves to OT, then Hicks to DE would become a must. I like the move if Casher can step in and play well, but it does leave us even more lacking in the experience category.
Go, I didn't see a ton of matias at OT, but he started off at LT when he got here, so I think he could play OT. The question is our new LG going to be better than Bobby Hart would be at RT. I like Hart at OT. I'm not sure he is physical enough for guard. But he is a natural mirroring on the edge IMO.
Id keep Hicks at TE. Without Lonnie around, we are going to need to use NOL and Christo more at h- back, so will need Hicks and Kerr's big bodies to set the edge.
I think we are fine at DE. We have Mario, Casher, Newberry, Hollin and Walker that are all game ready.
And if we do move A DL, I'd move Mitchell first. He is 6'6 and already 300 and we are deeper at DT than DE.
If he can add 30-40 lbs of good weight than I'm all for it. Problem is we have a numbers issue at DE. I know you said we could supplement this by moving McAllister so who knows. Newberry didn't set the world on fire at DE but outside of Mario he's all we have in the way of experience.
Maybe Pruitt will bring radical changes. We certainly have some players with intriguing skillsets that make moves possible.
I don't really think Newberry would be that great on the Oline. I know he did well in the UA game, but he has a really small lower half.
Thanks for the interesting thread BTW. I'm stuck in post NSD blues and I won't be okay until spring practice.
Sry, but I don't like a couple of your moves. Demonte really had a great year at DT and like others said, Los could really do some things in the new system. Lets hope we see more if 9 on the field either way
Good call on Derrick Mitchell. Almost forgot about him. Did he get a medical shirt or will be a sophomore now?
We also have Haplea.
Demonte Mcallister was arguably our best 3 tech this year. He out played Dawk quite a bit.
Pete Carroll called him "probably the best HS 3 tech I've ever seen", etc.
DMac is going nowhere. His and Jernigan's fits are part of why it would be nuts to go 3-4.
TREASURE COAST HIGH: "TITAN BORN TITAN BRED"
I wouldn't mind seeing what Telvin could do in a rover / strong safety spot... not saying we need it since Brooks / Los are are great but he reminds of Sean Taylor or Steve Atwater type safety.
Newberry is a rsSO, not a true SO. McAllister moving to DE is a nonsense move. Why move one of our most productive DT's to DE when he would have to lose weight to do so. That would make less than zero sense.
"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
Because we have plenty of DT's and are thin at DE.
This Newberry blocking Clowney thing has taken on a life of its own at this point.
As has the complete dislike of Hart. People are knocking him for him not being a standout 17 year old true freshman. Damn. He was solid last year when he got time.
Just because we have depth at DT doesn't mean you move the second-best one to DE. And the "depth" you speak of doesn't include anyone that saw significant playing time this year.
