After reading that Pender is as fast as Thompson but bigger, I have to admit I was pretty pleased. I didn't realize he was that fast. Think he can be a feature back for Jimbo?
If he keeps it together and pulls it together.
One thing is certain I hope he is more durable with his size. CT was 5'7 " according to the combine!
Pender has more talent than Freeman or Wilder, so its up to him.
He may weight as much as Thompson, but Pender is certainly taller, he is 6'0" tall, where as Thompson was 5'8". I would expect him to get bigger as he spends more time in the S&C program as well. I'll take a motivated Pender over the other two all day.
I personally want Wilder to be our feature back
i think we will see wilder continue to pound on the defense and then switch it up with pender as the homerun hitter. freeman will come in and do his thing as well. i look to see wilder more in the lonnie pryor situations where we need the big guy to grind out some yardage. freeman is the changeup
FSU Ambassador to the masses
I really wish wilder would take over too nothing against freeman I like him a lot but wilder can absolutely wear a defense down and then that's where you can get the big home runs from guys like pender and green, and possibly bracy. Could you imagine a team getting ran all over by wilder and wearing them out and then giving the ball to bracy on a reverse and watch them try to catch him.

I am a huge Freeman fan but realize he has not proven to have the vision and decision making necessary. I just feel like Wilder as the main guy with Pender getting 10 carries a game would be lethal. Freeman would still end up at 85-100 carries probably. He will play in the NFL and have tread on the tires.
I agree with you fsu. I think FSU REALLY missed Chris and his big play ability after he got hurt. If Mario can give FSU that element, it would be HUGE.
I love Freeman, but I want to see Wilder/Pender, if Pender has the discipline and the vision.
Pender was a 10.5 guy in hs. he's got pretty good size at about 5'10 195ish. homerun speed and better quicks than our other two backs.
with that said, if i had to choose between him or Freeman right now, i take the guy with 1,200 yards rushing and ~15 tds at the d1 level over the one yet to take a snap.
i too want Wilder as the starter right now. 6'2 230ish with that strength and ridiculous balance and athleticism all day. he won't take it 80, but he'll pound out 5-15 yarders all game and wear out the back 7 by the end of the third quarter.
i hope we see more backfields with 2 backs (Wilder/Freeman/Pender/Green) and the option to run to either side with either rb out in front cut blocking on the edge.
"Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
Pender may eventually be the feature back at FSU, but I don't see it being this yr. I expect him to be a change-of-pace guy, assuming he can fully digest the playbook (fairly big assumption) & learn to pass-protect.
Don't sleep on Green. He's every bit as talented as Pender and twice as mature.

"I never knew I had a foot until I noticed it was on your neck"
Pender for sure.
Three W's In My Life: Ward, Weinke, and Winston
All 3 will spend time in Jimbo's dog house thus none will ever seperate
Impressed with Pender's speed, cutting ability an acceleration. The hardest thing for a young back with that kind of speed is being patient, idle his speed down some to set up his blocks then hitting the proper hole. If he can do that, he'll definitely have a role in the offense this season.
Green, Wilder, Pender, Freeman is a hell of a backfield! Now we just need to fine a stud FB to replace Pryor. Will it be Beverly or Abrams?

GO NOLES! / SCALP EM!
Beverly got Med DQ'd
I was wondering about this as well, Pender can't give us what Wilder Jr can but he can possible out do what Freeman can, but DFree is very talented it all depends on who steps up and makes the most their opportunities hopefully it's a tough decision for CJF. Then we have Ryan Green, my gosh we did not need Alex Collins if what we have pans out, we have enough horses
Pender is unlike any back we've had. If he can keep it together he'll be big time.
IMO, Freeman is our best RB. Pender has shown nothing yet and Even coming out of HSI liked Freeman better. He played and dominated against much better competition. Pender is faster but I have no issues with Freeman being our feature back.
I think Freeman is severely underrated. Has a nice blend of speed and power. He's more of a pick and slider whereas CT was a one cut and go back which is better suited for a ZBS. I too wish Wilder would take the position in a chokehold though. His attributes are amazing, he can even catch the ball well which I never expected. Quick question, where the hell is a Wilder screen??? Give that kid a head of steam and he's not getting tackled. Cmon Jimbo make it happen.
Take these two, Pender's potential over three or four years, Ryan Green's film and I don't give a damn about Collins, Gus Edwards and Yearby. Only one ball, even with injury possibilities.
