To what extent do we have to worry about these two kids (Pender's character, JWJ's off-the-field behavior)?
I would say we do have to worry to SOME extent. All the more reason to sign another RB in this class.
"I never knew I had a foot until I noticed it was on your neck"
I think we should be fine with freeman and green coming in. I'm hoping pender gets on the field he will be dynamic. JWJ should get his act together. Reguardless we are also pursuing Collins and D. Green. So hopefully we get one of those 2. If not they offered a 3 star earlier this week.
JWJ tweeted he didnt recieve the court date in the mail. FYI dont know how true that is. I think JWJ will be fine he made one real mistake and had some small stuff
not commenting on the Pender issue.
BS to JWJ's tweet. When you are on bond or ROR awaiting a court date,it is your responsibility to stay on top of it,make calls and know your court date.
Maybe i missed something but what has Pender done?
The only he has done was get in trouble in high school, so that is why some noles are cautious about him.
The path that James Wilder is headed down usually ends in the same place.
Kenny Powers: "A true champion will do whatever it takes to rise above. Because surrender is death, and death is for pussies."
I think Wilder's stuff is a non-story.
It SEEMS like a non-story. But he's been having too many "non-stories" for my taste. Little problems add up and become big problems.
Oh come on, it's not like he passed out in the McDonald's drive thru.
That could be tomorrow's news, you never know.
Whatever is going on with the worst case of a groin injury i ever heard of is more concerning than Pender's off the field trouble in my opinion.
To my understanding Pender's groin has been fine for quite some time. He was redshirted for it, true, but once he became healthy Jimbo never had any to need to burn it.
It seems like he's been a solid citizen at FSU. How's his work ethic, though? His attitude. That's what worries me.
With as much coverage as there is these days, you can't react to everything so much.
True, it's probably not a huge deal. But, let's face it, this on top of the 2 issues last summer, that's 3 run-ins in like 6-7 months. Not good no matter how you look at it.
What have you heard regarding his work ethic and attitude?. Is he a team player. Real questions - I haven't heard or read much about his first year.
Nash, I haven't heard any specifics, just a lot of grumbling from "insiders." I wish I knew. I hope it's all smoke and no fire. I loved watching him run in HS!
I hope he puts in the work. He's got the chops, at least it appears so. He'll have to make the most out of his chances what with Jimbo's penchant for RB by committee.
There was rumblings earlier in the year that Pender just didn't want to play football anymore. I have no clue if true or not but there was definitely talk of it.
IMO we need at least 2 backs in this class.
Wait, WHAT! That one got by me.
Oh, yeah, I've heard stuff like this. Don't understand it. Don't know if it's true. Just don't know.
Believe me, there are a LOT of stories about recruits who don't want to play football or wan to go back home. We don't hear about them, but they are very, very common.
I've thought about the 2 of them not panning out in the same year as well. Fact of the matter is we could lose 2 RBs to injuries in the same year anyway. We should have more depth just because. At least that's what I would do as TEs coach.
I'm not sure why this is such a surprise to me, but it certainly is. I guess I can understand how a kid might be very reluctant to leave the comfort zone of family, Momma in particular, and the familiar support system of friends, coaches and the known geography of home, school and neighborhood. Perhaps it's because I wanted so badly to make the team when I walked on back in the leather helmet era LOL. Being on one's own can be scary. What happens when you run outta clean drawers for the first time? Ain't no refrigerator fulla Mom's left over lasagna and chicken parts to grab for a snack neither!
Oh Nash, I love your post. Get a chuckle in the morning. I hope pender gets it together (if its even an issue). He seems like a great RB in the making with his size and speed combo.
