Bottom line, they got their ass beat. Nix that, our whole D got their ass beat. Dline got manhandled. Our Lb's were manhandled. Christian Jones has got to play better. Moody took himself out of plays all night. Joyner took horrible angles all night. Played maybe one of his worst games of his career.
Big game and the strongest part of the team got whooped. They just lined up with an extra lineman and countered our ass all night. Disappointing..
What happened to our DT's and LB's...
They were on the field the whole game, but whatever, does it really matter, win next week who cares
Being on the field all night was their own fault, they missed too many tackles that kept too many drives alive.
"A Seminole warrior killed in battle is a legend remembered. A Gator lost in battle becomes a pair of boots and a belt. "
Agree with the first part, definitely not the second. Winning next week is nowhere near good enough to make up for the stupidity of this loss.
it doesn't matter?
Your right five turn overs didn't have anything to do with it. If EJ had played just average FSU wins going away. I love the kid but he really laid an egg today
Really can't believe this. I think it's relatively easy to blame them when they are being blocked by 6-8 people the majority of the night. This is on Stoops. UF routinely came out there with their jumbo package and we countered that with our base d. Even if we had the giants starters out there 6 against 4 is always a mismatch.
Did you expect us to dominate the game just matching our 4 against whatever they put out there?
we weren't playing for NC anyway so yeah didn't matter.
yeah those 5 TOs were their fault
Our lbs have been out of position most of the year.
Nat, we gave up over 250 yds rushing and 3 rushing tds. We knew what they wanted to do and we couldn't stop it. So who is to blame then? Stoops should have made better adjustments, but still, there comes a time where you have to line up & beat the mans ass that lines up across from you. Only problem, they did it to us.
The interior of our D has shown to be a weakness all year when attacked and it doesn't help that our LB'er play has been poor. Who gets the blame for lack of toughness and strenght? LB'er recruiting has continued to suffer under Coach Hudson as it did with Amato. I feel for Bjoern and Tank as they both had to play way too many minutes in this game, that there is a lack of recruiting. S&C I really have not seen a remarkable improvement especially on the D. Do we not teach our players how to tackle??? Missed tackle after missed tackle will cost you games as it did tonight. DISAPPOINTED by this staff and several players. Was Joyner even in the game? Brooks should've made the INT that hit him straight in the pads, Vince, Telvin, Nick and Christian all were out of position the entire game and Dawkins did nothing along with the rest of the interior d-line.
Need answers to the issues and I don't believe for a second the Coach Stoops deserves to be a head coach anywhere because in big games his D lacks fundamentals and gives up big plays when they shouldn't.
So the UF game only matters if we're in the NC hunt?
That is some ass backwards logic.
Turnovers or not, that offense is horrible, of those 5 TO's, at least 3 should have ended in 3 and outs. Missed tackles kept drives going and allowed them to wear us out. Florida converting 3rd and 13's and 3rd and 14's, a 24 yard run on a 3rd and 3, multiple 5-7 yard first down runs, is unacceptable.
Turning point other than the fumble when EJ got hurt and fumbled, was when they had third and 15 and hit that Tight end screen to Reed and he ran for about 25 yards or so. Pease called an outstanding game and we had way too amny missed tackles.
That is what kills me about the defense. Reed was the only ar or te that could hurt us. You had to know that was coming. They throw it every game.
Respectfully I disagree. Gillislee was averging under 4 ypc up into the 4th. UF had a 13 play drive that ended in a FG, immediately after was when EJ got knocked out and Gillislee went 37 on the next play. Driskells 31 yarder never should have happened because Nixon had a major, major facemask penalty on Tank that wasnt called. Other than that Jones came in and beat us up on a garbage time drive when the D had been on the field for 36 minutes because of the 5 turnovers. The D gave us more than a good chance but our O (QB) didnt take advantage.
Once Stoops and our 6-NFL starting defenders are gone next year... we are really going to miss them.
There is not a defense in the country who can counter 5 TO's and an offense deciding to only show up for 1qtr.. shifting the time of possession to that extent. You can take every other top 10 defense in the country, put them in the same situation.... and adds are they give up equal or more points.

But you said it right there, a 13 play drive to that offense, followed up by a 10 play drive, and another 10 play drive in the 2nd quarter. That's 33 plays, half the plays this defense is used to for an entire game on 3 possessions in the 1st half. Those drives resulted in 6 points, but the amount of time on the field killed them. I'm not saying TO's had nothing to do with the loss, it was a 14 point swing, I just don't think it was as big as the multitude of missed tackles and 5+ yard gains on 1st downs, not to mention Stoops unwillingness to help out the DL with some sort of blitz package to put pressure on a QB that had tightened up at halftime and obviously struggles with pressure in his face. We were up 7 points after 4 of those turnovers. Considering field position, 14 points off 5 turnovers is probably as good as you will ever do in that situation, but the early game struggles to get them off the field reared its head late in the 4th quarter when Jones was pounding us.
I understand your logic but disagree. They dominated the 1st, 2nd, and definitely the 4th qtr. You have to look at the whole game. They were one of the worst offenses out of all the power conferences, and we made them look like the Kansas City Chiefs running the ball with Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson. There are going to be games when this happens....when your offense puts you in bad positions....BUT....thats when your so called elite defense has to stand up and stop them. Florida won the first down battle the vast majority of the night. That set up extremely manageable 2nd and 3rd downs opportunities for them. We never made them one dimensional. That's how you beat Florida's offense. Stop the run and make Driskel throw it. We never could do that. They owned the line of scrimmage the vast majority of the night.
Playing man coverage didn't help. Our LBs were no where to be found. Jones got beat all night!
We are going to disagree but I understand your point of view.
1st Q UF 24 offensive plays for 3 points. FSU 8 plays, 0 points 1 turnover. UF has ball 11:01 of 15 minutes
2nd Q UF 18 plays for 10 points. TD was scored after the Karlos fumble which UF recoverd on the 21. At 2:10 left in the half we moved the ball down the field for the FG as time expired. Before that drive FOUR offensive plays in the quarter for a total of 2:02 TOP.
Did we let UF dink and dunk their way down the field? Absolutetly, but the D still help them to 6 points despite a TOP disadvantage of about 22 minutes to 8. Our O was poor and the Williams fumble gave them 7.
They played great in the 3rd and gave us a lead heading into the 4th but look at the linked drives. Despite putting up the 17 points our longest offensive drive was 1:57.
We had the lead in the 4th despite the poor play of the O. That unit had to step up and put the game away and they didnt. EJ gets popped, looses the ball and they hit their 1st big play. Then the O goes 3 and out yet again and immediately give up the big punt return. Game Over
If you want to critize for the bend but dont break play then fine (even though IMO it worked). Their was 1 unit that lost this game and it wasnt the D
NCAA College Football Play By Play
Didnt read the thread but hope it was posted that the offense was the reason the defense was on the field all day today.
Yah -- I mean... if I was being really generous... I could say 75% offense fault 25% linebacker fault
The d-line played good enough to win...even with crappy LB's, if our offense puts up a mirror performance to what Florida did to us (which should be no problem)
We apparently caught fumblitis the second half of this season... the lack of discipline came to reap.
