For what could be an improper drop and signing an incorrect scorecard.
As I read it, it sounds like an improper drop, which of course means he signed an incorrect scorecard.
not DQ'd. Assessed 2 stroke penalty
Wonder if he will tee off earlier now?...
"Woods was not disqualified because of a relatively recent rule which allows the rules committee discretion when it comes to violations reported after the fact."
Sorry and I like TG but he should have been DQed. Just as Tiger said when he heard about the 14 year old getting a 1 stroke penalty...."rules are rules". This certainly makes the word "discretion" come into play and if our friends at CBS had any say in the decision....
Well at least the Tourney will be more interesting.....
They even said on tv that, in that situation, Tiger could play from the drop zone or go back and play from the same spot or two club lengths away from the hole. Turns out that hole didn't only go from possible birdie to bogie. It's now a four shot swing. Horrible luck

Tiger Woods could refuse to ever play at the Masters again.... Purchase his own golf course in Augusta, Ga, create his own tournament and call it "The Legends" ....hold it on the same weekend and it wouldn't have the 75 years of history with discrimination against women and African Americans.
In a couple of years from now, no one would participate in the Masters. In a few generations, no one would even remember it existed.
When you wield that much power and drive 95% of the revenue... exceptions are going to be made.
This. CBS had a say in it. I will probably watch this weekend, only because Tiger is playing. If he isn't I couldn't careless
From what I've heard, this was a dumb rule that only applies at the masters... at all other courses, you are allowed to drop the ball within 2-golf club distances away from the original spot....
On top of that, the refs watching didn't even catch it... He was caught because Tiger Woods gave a TV interview, and told them he dropped it 2-yards further away from the hole.
/This is like the NFL ruling that a player catches a winning TD pass... then after the game is over, the player admits on TV that he didn't catch it...and the NFL goes back and reverses the outcome of the game, after-the-fact. Completely asinine handling of this... If I was Tiger, I'd tell them where to put that green jacket.
The Masters is bigger than Tiger. By a lot.
This is not a Masters rule...it is a new rule put in last year for all of the PGA....Even though some golfers have been DQed for similar stuff....this is the first time a 2 stroke penalty has been used rather than DQ according to the golf network.....and there is NOT a 2 club rule in this situation....
With the above said...watch Tiger get hot and come back and win it!
No, dude. This is breaking the rules and an unfair advantage. Tiger has nothing to gain by fighting this. He'll appear like a petulant brat in the golf community.
Tiger may drive the golf industry, but it is still a sport with great tradition.

Tradition means nothing. Check the ratings with 35-under crowd...and you find that it is virtually un-watched... This isn't going to be an acquired taste, that comes with age... Professional baseball and golf will be irrelevant by the time I'm retiring, because better sports will have swallowed them.
Baseball and golf are what I look for when I have the opportunity to take a nap on the weekend.30 minutes max and I'm asleep.
Tiger would be tied for 2nd if he had those 2 strokes back
GO NOLES! / SCALP EM!
Or the little freak could have been dq'd, taken the weekend off and went on the hunt for some more homely jiffy store clerks to go azz to mouth with.
Golf is one of the only sports that isn't monetized mostly on a spectator basis.
Football will die before baseball or golf (due to the increasing pussification of America).
CBS doesn't have a say in anything regarding the Masters. They have a one year contract and announcers get fired(from working the Masters) for saying things Augusta deems inappropriate.
Golf and Baseball will never be swallowed by other sports.
You should probably take notice of how many good young players there are. There is a reason Tiger doesn't dominate like he use to. With that said, he should have been disqualified. You cant make exceptions for some players and not for others.
He prefers his jiffy store girls to have straight non-curly hair!
