It won't be an issue in 2013 (or 2014), barring injury, it is after that we are in trouble. We have not 1 young player on this team that is developing and the way this OL class is shaping up we won't have one either. Hoefeld is a good looking C prospect. Denson is a good looking Guard prospect. Golson, is not even a commitment at this point. Wilson Bell, if we land him, is probably an interior guy. Kirkland, is an OT, but most likely going to Miami. If we pulled Munger from OSU, he is a G. They better keep Golson, otherwise you would have went 2 years without signing an offensive tackle, and 3 years ago all of your OT's were forced to play as true FR, so it is not like you have much to fall back on. Next year we should sign some elite guys, because if you have a pulse you will play as a redshirt SO at the absolute latest.
"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
We dont have a legit option at RT as we are speaking. We are going into 2013 IMO just like very other year, who will step and take that position.
I think it's only a matter of time before we're reading about Derrick Mitchell switching to the OL.
We have guys with experience that can paly RT. You are not going to return 5 starters every season. There are a ton of combinations that would do perfectly fine. Bobby Hart, Sterling Lovelady, and Austin Barron all have starting experience. It is in 3 seasons where we have no one at all.
So it will look like .....
Erving Stork Lovelady Jackson Matias?
Is that the consensus?
I still think Hart may be the starter at RT. maybe Golsen makes a push.
Golson and Kerr are committed. We'll see if Golson sticks. Kirkland might be a tackle if he chooses FSU. On the current roster Matias could slide out if necessary (or if the options to replace him at guard are better than the options at tackle). Stork was at right tackle last spring so he obviously could move back out there if Hart or someone else doesn't step it up (or if they decide to push Hart inside). There are options. I'm going to hazard a guess and say, barring a surprise in the next 10 days, either Matias or Stork will be the starting right tackle next season.
I would prefer if newberry moves to RT or LT, he is very athletic but seems to lack the vertical quickness to be more then a bull rusher or every down starter at DE. I think he would standout at tackle unless he sees ton of improvement over these next 8 months.
He'll be a redshirt junior in 2013.
The kid is 6'2 280 after 3 years in school. Just doesn't have a lot of natural size.
Barron is basically the same.
Scalp 'Em Seminoles!!!
I'd like to see Newberry put on 20 lbs and try RT. He will never be more than 3rd string DE here. I think Mario, Casher, Walker, Hollin play more in 2013.
Newberry would be fine at 6'6 290 as a redshirt sophomore.
Both Lovelady and Barron have been in Tally for under 2 full years not 3. Barron is around 300 now and Lovelady is very close to it.
