My post above about Dawsey and Craig was sarcasm. Coley was never really the OC. I expect Jimbo to just slide someone else into that position that won't really be the OC either.
I liked the idea of hiring a legit (playcalling) OC. If we're just going to be in the same boat, I'd much rather hold on to Coley. He's a stud recruiter, and I know people on here have said "anyone can recruit", but I simply disagree with that statement.
I don't think any coordinator would agree to those terms. If Fisher was fully set on Coley being the play-caller, I think we would have seen it by now. Coley was a legitimate offensive coordinator for one year thus far in his career (Team averaged 269 ypg); he simply doesn't have any experience calling plays. For Fisher to say on Sunday that he's getting close to "hiring" a play caller, followed by reports, 2 days later, that his current OC is accepting a coordinator position elsewhere, tells me all I need to know. He acknowledged after NC State that he would need to relinquish play-calling duties one day just lIke Bowden, but I think that day has arrived quicker than he or anyone else anticipated. Whether it's fully his decision or not, I don't know.

I think Fisher would agree with you. He would find a way to appease Coley and the fanbase if things were going to remain status quo. However, I don't believe they will be status quo, which is why Coley appears to be on his way out the door.
Hope your interpretation is correct. I think Jimbo might be a much better gameday coach w/o having play call responsibility. Give him more time to contemplate strategy and clock management issues. Might make him a bit less crazy too.
Why not one of these guys? Experienced and would probably entertain FSU opportunity.

Tony Franklin... Please God give me Tony Franklin... He is at Louisiana Tech now, and is considered the god father of the Air Raid System. Look at what Texas A&M did to Bama. I know some are not a fan of that offense, but It is the present and future of college football .
