I just started watching FSU baseball the last two weeks, I admit, and the middle infield has been booting balls the entire time? Is this out of character? A year long struggle? Thanks
Out of character for them. They are usually pretty solid.
Good to hear. I've watched 5 straight games and I have a hard time watching the short stop.
Gonzo has had trouble since his injury.
gonzalez is terrible
has been his entire career, hope he signs with LA
They've been collectively fantastic for much of this season, including Gonzalez, who, believe it or not, has been much more valuable for his defense than for his offense.
Obviously, that hasn't been the case in recent weeks. Maybe his injury has something to do with it, maybe not. He had a bad night tonight.

Gonzalez gets too much credit for his D, imo. Sure, he makes a nice play every so often, but the dude has to have the most errors on the team. Guy shit his pants tonight...
Gonzo ended FSU's season tonight for all intensive purposes.
The phrase is, "intents and purposes".
Our 3-4-5 batters went 1-13 and left 9 guys on base. I'm sorry but this isn't on Gonzales, he had 20% of the team hits tonight. This game wasn't about defense or pitching, we just didn't hit the ball... plain and simple.
A Florida State baseball team collapsing in the postseason is business as usual.
I've been following FSU baseball for nearly 40 years. I know better than to watch CWS games. They are beyond frustrating.
I admit that Martin has shown flexibility over the years. You can't put it all on him. But FSU baseball is a tease every single year.
Actually, this is the first time in decades I've finally felt my alma mater had a chance to win it all.
Because my grad degree is from Stony Brook!
So have I. I was around when Martin threw a tantrum over not getting the HC job the first time he applied for it - I mean he went public about it. I've always been of the opinion that he could one day be a good coach, maybe, but would never be a great one. It's a bit of a shame. as we are a very good, but not great baseball school.
Credit where credit is due. THIS year, he did perhaps his best job overall so far, the crowning moment of which was hiring Bell.
IMO, it's time for him to retire and get some much younger blood in there.
"IMO, it's time for him to retire and get some much younger blood in there. "
Young blood and FRESH blood.
I am just afraid they hire his son and the choke is in the genes.
Yeah. About that. A little bit of nepotism perhaps? I thought that was illegal, although Bobby Bowden was able to sleethily bypass that codicil in the employment agreement dontcherknow. "Hey, I ain't gonna be his direct supervisor, so there ain't no neepertism here. They cleared all that up at the President's orifice - 'n that's who signs my checks"!
If it's O fer Omaha, 2 and Bar-B-Q - AGAIN, then Martin needs to go fishin' for about a decade, with "Meat" drivin' the boat!
It's hard for me to imagine anyone Other than meat as replacement. I fully accept that when I die, a man named Mike Martin will still be the coach at FSU.
However, I think Meat is a good coach and expect the program to take a step up with him.
While I hate losing the first game, I don't think this loss was that bad.
Our 2-5 hitters were horrific, bad fielding, and we only lost by 1 run in extra innings. Without a doubt, this is a team that can still win the championship... but were are going to have to hit the ball, we aren't going to pitch and defend our way to the title game.
