I think Bama, LSU, and FSU have talent on defense and enough offense to compete with Oregon. K State may b able to beat them. I don't think ND has enough speed on defense to stop them
In order to beat UO you need a ball control offense to keep their offense off the field. Shorten the game and limit the number of possessions they have while maximizing your offensive possessions, you have to score TD's. On defense you need a dominating front 7 that can control the LOS and also get a pass rush without having to blitz. I think Bama would just maul them on offense, keeping the ball out of the hands of UO's offense. The Saban/Smart defense would be ready for the spread attack as well.
There are about 3 in the SEC east.
But go on...
Oregon hasn't faced a D yet
No there aren't. There's just a lot of bad offense in the SEC. The only 2 legitimate defenses in the league are Bama and LSU. All the rest -- meh.
"I never knew I had a foot until I noticed it was on your neck"
And the SEC hasn't faced a real offense yet.
On Nov. 24 the mighty, unbeatable, superior SEC will FINALLY face some offense as FSU piles up the points against UF and Clemson torches USCe. You'll see what offense is all about, my friend.
The same was said a few years ago until they ran into Auburn and only scored 19 points...
sorry man but we would/will beat them. They will score about 24 on us. Watch the TAMU game this weekend and you will see we are VERY good against these style offenses. Where we struggle are teams that run the I formation with great blocking fullbacks. Struggle for our defense is not a very easy word and our stuggle still only means we give up 17-21 points at the most. Our defense is disciplined enough to meet their runners on the edge and contain most any QB that runs alot. I think FSU Bama LSU UGA Florida could all beat Oregon.
SEC doesnt have as bad of offenses as you think... When you constantly play teams with multiple high draft picks on the defensive side its not that easy to score.
TAMU is the only team in the SEC that plays offense worth prepping for. That said, Oregon is LIGHT YEARS better than TAMU.
I love how cocksure Bama fans are. Like UK in hoops. You just know you're superior to everyone else. The mere suggestion that you can be beaten sends you into a tizzy. How dare I mention that Bama is capable of being outscored!? It can't happen. It mustn't happen (the gods would never allow) it. It won't happen. All hail Bama!
Not that at all... If oregons defense was on FSU's or UF's level they might just be one of the best college football teams of all time. That being said I think they score but we score more and stop them a few times. Is that too crazy to understand?
Hey, if anyone can slow Oregon down it's probably Bama. Bama's D is tough, extremely well-coached, and very disciplined in their technique. But, listen, how good are they REALLY? I know Bama's D is good, but is it great? Ya'll hadn't played anyone until LSU and their offense is questionable to say the least. LSU put up 17 points, a boatload of yards, and you guys made Mettenberger look like a STAR. Again, we'll see.
All that is true about LSU but also this was by far LSU best offensive game... they played well above their heads... sometimes teams do that... I like Oregon and think they have a fantastic offense... but they lack being physical and that is Bama strength also Bama LB are big and fast... something Oregon rarely sees in the PAC 12... would be a very intriguing game but in the end I think Bama will be too physical for them and Bama offense can control the game with its power run... keep Oregon's offense off the field is what Bama would most likely do
It would be a good game. But Oregon would wear KSU out, KSU just dont ahve the athletes to slow oregon, and ina score race, oregon would win.
i was at the oregon game this year and last year. Phenom offense, crazy. But as many of you said here, a physical defense would slow them down. Bama and LSU could slow them down big time, FSU could too i think. But you cannot stop them. Its part of their philosophy: u go uptemp to wear the other team out, but at the same time, running 85 plays a game means that you can afford to screw up bc u get more bites at the apple. Thats pretty much it.
We cant stop them with monte kiffin at DC, and with our thin DL. The transfers have hurt us. We have a big DL class coming in this year. What you have to do against oregon is penetrate their OL and get them to 3rd and long. Bama, LSU, FSU can do that. We on the other hand, could not penetrate a paper towel with a firehose.
Ohio state showed that you dont have to be as athletic as oregon to beat them. Oregon is WAY more athletic than OSU in the rose bowl a few yeas back. The DL got push, and OSU rotated 9 DL that game. I dont think KSU rotates 8-9 DL. And they would not be as massive as OSU. Oregon lives off of not getting into 3rd and long situations. At 7 yards a play its never a worry. Nick Farley and Auburn had the ducks in 3rd and 7 the whole game.
USC sux, we got all kinds of problems, and would likely lose to Oregun in a rematch, just keepin it real. Lane will be our coach for the next season as well. If things dont go well tho, we would LOVE to get chris peterson from Boise St. He turned down UCLA, but I think he would consider SC. He knows Cali recruiting grounds well too as 85% of his team is recruited in Nor cal / So cal, mostly So cal.
This may be a bit too long, sorry for trolling your board. I kicked it at FSU and Famu U once and thought man, I could go to school here. Lot of lovely ladies in seminole land.
Good luck against the Gators and the rest of the teams u play-
You really posted this nonsense?
Oregon gets owned when they play a real defense. Did you see what Auburn did to them? Did you see what LSU did to them?
They score a lot of points on teams that don't play defense.
The PAC 12 is an offensive league, they put all their best players on offense and the scrubs play D.
Alabama will shut them down. FSU would shut them down. LSU would shut them down! Florida would shut them down.
Silly Wabbit, Trick offenses are for Pee Wee football.

Yes, I really posted this nonsense. This Oregon team is better than last year's (top notch QB this year) and the team from 2 years ago. This is their best, fastest, and most physical team ever. Maybe Bama, FSU, LSU, and UF WOULD wear them down. However, maybe UO would wear those teams down. As an FSU fan the one team I would not want to face is UO. We match up well against Bama; Oregon is a matchup nightmare.
And their offense is not a gimmick or trick offense!! They run the ball behind an extraordinary OL. They are powerful in the trenches (on the OL side of the ball). Listen, I don't even LIKE Oregon; I'm just blown away by their tempo, the flawless and error-free way in which they run their offense, their team speed; bascially, their refusal to be outscored.
If FSU can't play in the NC I want Oregon because I despise the SEC and I think Oregon can beat Bama. That's all.
It has looked great against those craptastic defenses in the PAC 12 and those OOC games... they have yet to face a worthy defense to say his great their offense is... also Bama offense is a grind it out offense taking up minutes which would keep Oregon's offense off the field thus making it hard to get into a groove ... Oregon offense is very good but lets not act like they can't be stopped... a lot of people said the exact same for WV offense...
True, true, true. Anyone can be stopped on any given day. I just don't think UO will be stopped this year. That's all. Just my going out on a limb. (I must say, it's very lonely out here on this limb!)
Mr. napoleon, my nemesis (LOL),
Not sure what you said but Fairly was a dirty/cheap motherfucker and Newton clearly took several hundred thousand to go to Auburn for his father's church. Either way, their two best players are absolute jokes in the reality of it all.
Even considering that - and I am hardly a Fisher BELIEVER - I think we can win on out and finish top 5 - easily - and have a great deal of momentum heading into the next few years.

Trick, we have disagreed in the past, but I believe we're turning a corner. lol. Our friendship is on the mend.
I agree with everything you said above -- not sure what it has to do with UO, but I'm SICK of talking about UO, anyway.
One thing I respect about you is that you've been consistent with you criticism of JF, while others have been flip-flopping all over the place.
Uh..apparently Stanford did.
Another reminder that defense wins championships
Well, if the offense substitutes they have to let the defense substitute. Also have to think defenses like FSU, LSU, Bama, UF, etc. that have depth and condition in the disgustingly hot and humid south east should do well.
Pretty classless to dig this out and bump it to the top.
Freshman QB + Injured starting LB = last second loss to #14 team, because your field goal kicker sucks.
Oregon can hold their head up... as can the OP
In a best of 7, I'd suspect Oregon + Alabama would filter to the top vs. any teams.
