I'm getting a little ahead of myself but would like to know how everyone thinks we'll be next year? Who's going to be the leader on next year's team?
The Offense could carry over and be just as potent as it can except maybe lacking a mobile QB. The defense might take a good hit from the experience perspective, but then again Werner and Jenkins could stay (probably not). Special Teams will drop a bit losing Hopkins.
Honestly don't see how Coker or Winston isn't the starter. Trickett knows the offense and is a gamer but anybody with a pulse will force him to make plays and then it's all over
Just a little note on that:
DHop commented that he thinks Aguyao will be better than him. Kid apparently has a leg.
TimmyJ, Demonte McAllister, Newberry, MEJ, maybe the JUCO Def end would be a decent line up.
Offensively, the OLine will be nails, barring any injury, WRs will be better, TEs a year more mature, RBs will be tought to replace CT4 but JWJ and Freeman should be even better. Question mark at QB. Probably Trickett.
Should make up for some of the losses, but will be slightly down, is my opinion.
2014 should be another good season.
Yea, I totally agree that Trickett's a gamer but he just doesn't have that "it" factor that makes me think he can be the starter. To be honest i'd much rather lose a game behind Coker or Winston. If Trickett's the starter next season i'm sure he will be on a very short leash unless he's putting up W's....obviously. He's as solid of a back-up as you can get, but just not starter material. We'll see
Sounds pretty damn good to me
Vehemently disagree with those who don't think Trickett is capable of being a damn good starter. He showed it on the field last year as a freshman. The way he played with confidence and chucked it all over the field against Oklahoma and Clemson, he's definitely got the ability and the moxie. He may not have IDEAL measurements, but so what?
Good chance Jenkins is back next year, other reasons then draft Werner would come back also
I know Jimbo likes running Qbs but Clint is our best passer next year for sure. Secondly I think our Oline will be improved so we might be able to run the conventional way with RBs. If we can pass with our Wrs we might have a pretty special offense.
I think next yr. D stems on DE and Safety.Jenkins or werner may come back. If Zadirus? Smith can man the other DE. 2 of MEJ, Casher and Newberry step we can have a pretty good group. I think DT will be good. We lose Vince and Moody which hurts but Northrup or some of the Freshman have to step up. I think Joyner stays then we should be at least as good as this yr. Losing Rhodes hurts big time but I think Waisome, Darby Hunter and PJ can fill in with out a big dropoff.
Again the key here depends on Jenkins and Joyner and to a lesser extent the other DEs
I love having a mobile quarterback, but I gotta admit I'm kinda anxious to see Clint back there as a gunslinger. Believe it or not our offense will have even more speed at it's disposal next season. Think of the guys we have coming back, then add Pender, Bracy, Ryan Green and the freshman wideouts. I'm not sure how Jimbo can stick to his ball control offense with that kind of talent. We should be putting up 50+ points on everybody by that point.
Trickett's the best football player we have at the position next year. I'm not saying he's the best option for the future, but you're blind if you don't see his understanding of the game. He'd be the best quarterback in the country if he was 6'5" 230. Unfortunately, he's not. I'll trust Jimbo to make the best decision and I'll back whatever QB he chooses to be the starter.
Too many question marks to know. Werner, Jenkins, Joyner, Rhodes, Jones etc. could return, or they may not. There's a year of strength training ahead of us too.
On defense, I'm excited to see if other guys can step up. MEJ, Goldman, Darby, Jernigan, Waisome, LOS, PJ, Casher, Terrence Smith, Tyler Hunter, Keelin Smith, Derrick Mitchell, NLS, Newberry, and Northrup.....I think any of those guys are capable of making a huge impact on defense next year and maintaining just as strong a defense when you put them with probably Lamarcus Joyner, Telvin Smith, Christian Jones, Terrence Brooks, and maybe Brandon Jenkins. Probably not Rhodes or Werner.

I think if we can land the Juco DE and one of Werner or Jenkins is back, we should be right in the top 5 hunt again. Or we need to move Hicks back.
QB- decisive decision making, talented arm, high football IQ
RB- Wilder could be an AA, Freeman a great change of pace and tremendous speed with the frosh
*we will miss lonnies blocking
WR-even better than this year with more experience
TE-NOL is an AA, haplea is solid and the kid provides quality depth
OL-could be Americas finest
DT-1's are the best duo in the nation, Jmac provides depth, Goldman, Shanks, Mitchell and NLS start to make an impact.
DE-I'd like one Jenkins or Werner to anchor this unit. Newberry, Casher, Edwards should make a major leap and either the JC or Hicks round out the group.
LB-Jones and Telvin are returning starters, the backups are athletic
CB-starters will be young with Waisome and Darby, but they will be talented and experienced. Unless they want to go with a bigger CB to replace Xavier.
S-we should as fine a group as there is with Joyner, Vrooks, Karlos and Hunter.
That team should cruise to a BCS game and if a few things break our way, why not play for it all?
I think the kid has different plans. lol
Rhodes is the only player I can see leaving out of that group. Yes Werner could leave, but gotta imagine him sticking around for him and his wife to finish school.
A downvote? Seriously? It's asking a question about next years team and this is all opinion based. Sweet move
Upvoted to make up for the downvote.
Trickett is a gamer by the way.

No one would love to see Werner back more than I, that being said he'd be crazy (as would ANY kid good enough for 1st/2nd rd $$) to return for a SR season. Look at BJenkins plus the fact that being a professional athlete (esp fooseball player) is a very short-term proposition and you only have so many years that you can play and generate that kind of income along w/ the fact that FSU ain't goin' anywhere and you can always come back to finish up your degree all adds up to NFL. JMHO
Thanks you sir, I totally agree. Your alright in my book.
If he's projected upper half of 1st round, he HAS to go.
I mean, come on, he can't pass up that kind of money.
Unless the competition between Coker, Trickett and Winston somehow doesnt produce a really solid QB we will have our best team since '96 next year IMO.
I know I'm talking about two QB's, Luck being a hot commodity no matter what year. That said, are there any DE's that would challenge Werner for top DE? If so, how many would there be?
There are just too many variables at play to make that proclamation, namely potential losses on defense.
I would agree with you if the following all happen:
1) we retain at least one of Werner/Jenkins
2) we retain Christian Jones
3) we retain at least one of Rhodes/Joyner
4) we pick up that Juco DE
I don't see all of this happening, especially if we have the season that we are expecting. I do think our offense will be excellent next year, though losing Lonnie and EJ's legs hurt a bunch
Not sure where Christian Jones would go, you think he transfers or gives up football? Sarcasm of course, he's back.
Joyner is back. Rhodes is all but gone. We're fine at CB, we'll be young and extremely talented.
We need one of Jenkins, Werner, and Zadarius. I think our karma is charged back up enough to where we get one. 2 and we have the DE grouping we should have had this year. Mario, Newberry and Casher will come a long long way next offseason. Tons of reps under DJE's coaching.
Not sure how losing those legs hurts a bunch, maybe you can explain. Coker can move 95% as well as EJ and our RBs will be s-i-c-k. Freeman after a nice down year to rehab and get better, Wilder in full beast mode, Pender will be explosive, Ryan Green is very good and ready.
OL will be everything that 2003 group was supposed to be. Outstanding. Erving and Watson alone will be amazing.
