Winston vs. Coker
Id take Winston..not only BC of his athleticism but BC the whole season he was on the field learning almost every play and and wants to be great but he is smart and unselfish..rare for a youngster..

Franklin. Super athletic
Winston is smart, a leader, and a amazing DT QB.
Coker is up there also.
IMO Clint needs to stay a back up and save his noggin for coaching. I would love if he stayed as a GA after graduating. He seems like he would be a great coach. Lets be serious with his dietary problem he is limited and can never bulk up to be NFL ready IMO.
Winstons should get the nod if he outperforms or is equal to Coker/Maguire due to his youth plus leadership/intelligence. He has the potential to be a amazing four year starter and it would let him compete and grow.
A RS FR won the Heisman this year so IMO we can let a RS FR start at QB.
It's likely going to be Trickett and I think people would be wise to accept that now. I'd love to be wrong, but he's got more experience and likely knows the playbook a lot better than anybody else.
Tricketts job to loose, lets see how spring ball turns out
Not sure it would be such a bad thing for it to be Trickett either. Personally I believe Trickett wins the spot but during the season he gets injured for a few games and either Coker or Winston take over and never give it back.
Because you need NFL tools to be an effective college QB? Hell no.
If CT starts, it means he knows the playbook way better/makes better decisions as a QB, because his arm isn't as big as Jaboo or Coker...he's also not as athletic as the other two.
It's so unreasonable for fans (and almost ignorant to how much work goes into learning a playbook and developing as a QB) to expect Coker or Winston to be more ready to run the offense than CT.

If Trickett wins the starting job then Coker and Jameis are not the qbs many of us think they are.
Thorough knowledge of the playbook should not factor above superior athleticism, arm talent, and upside. You tailor the offense to the strengths of Coker or Winston. They have 4 starters back on the oline and talented upperclassmen at the skill spots. This is the obvious scenario to roll with the future of your program.
"Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
I will also add that I personally believe Trickett will play better than EJ did this season, on a whole.
I just have never been enthralled with Trickett's play.
Every time he comes in, it seems, my first thought is, "Wow, he really throws the ball quicker and more decisively than EJ."
And then my second thought is, "Whoa, that one should have been intercepted."
We do need a more decisive, instinctive quarterback. But we need a playmaker, not a game manager. We don't have the playmakers on offense to get by with a game manager like Bama does with their stable of ridiculous RBs and Amari Cooper.
Yes, we have one serious playmaker at WR. We need another game breaker, and QB is the position where we have a chance to have that.
Sounds pretty logical but I've never coached & last game I played was about 30 years ago but designing the offense around available skills is what we did way back when. However spring practice should provide a good live assessment period even with the use of green jerseys. My guess is we have 2 or 3 guys that are very capable but one will rise a bit above the rest. That's what competition is all about.

The ONLY thing people can seem to say about CT is that "he knows the playbook." Is that it? Is that the one thing he brings to the table? If so, he's 3rd string at best. Coker and Winston will learn the damn playbook (I'd be surprised if JW doesn't know it already) and, because of all their physical gifts, will turn this derby into a 2 horse race. CT needs to transfer. MaGuire has a bigger arm.
The Future is Now.
I find it hilarious that people were screaming for CT to replace EJ but now he's garbage. Nole fans never fail to amaze me.
The QB situation will play itself out--serious competition and I don't see Trickett staying un-injured by late November.
Clint for future OL coach and main recruiter!!!! Haha
Glad Jimbo is picking the starter and not all us posters.
I guess you forget about Weatherfords Sr yr. that experience and knowing the playbook means nothing. Coker or Winston will get the nod and I am leaning towards Winston
Yeah you bet
Sound logic. I'm sure Ponder didn't know the playbook. He never was very bright, was he.
oh, and in case it isn't obvious:
Is it the same Nole fans, because if so yes that's crazy.
Trickett's understanding of the playbook does little good when receivers do not make the correct reads or blockers fail to pick up stunts or blitzes. Jimbo needs to realize that the class is only as smart as its slowest student and simplify the playbook to take advantage of FSU's obvious athleticsm advantage. Trickett simply cannot create offense out of broken plays like Coker or Winston potentially can or like EJ often did.
I'd rather take my lumps in 2013 going with an inexperienced but talented QB (and go all-in for 2014) than hand the keys over to a game manager and costing FSU's future QBs valuable reps when the time comes for them to step up in 2014.
FSU Football. Making cool the new swag since 2013.
Some people might have suggested that and then other different people still believe he won't be a very good qb. There are lots of people on this message board and most of them have different opinions about our players.
Silly generalizations about an entire message board = believing global warming isn't happening b/c it was cold last night in tally or reading about a mass shooting and thinking everyone with a gun is a psychopath.

Whoever down voted this, this comes from a CURRENT player who lives with and practices with these men every day.
