Northern Illinois' coaching staff always looks for an opposing defensive player the Huskies can take advantage of.
The staff calls that player "Waldo." However, NIU head coach Rod Carey hasn't found a "Waldo" on Florida State's defensive unit.
"We always use the term 'Where's Waldo' and find him on defense," Carey said. "Let me tell you, Florida State doesn't have a Waldo. They have a bunch of good football players."
When Huskie coaches and players have talked about the Seminoles defense, adjectives like quick, physical and athletic have been used left and right. It's understandable, as the group ranks second in the nation in total defense (253.77 yards per game) and seventh in scoring defense (15.08 points per game).

He's never seen anything like Werner. I'm sure he'll get double teamed most of the game.
The main question is will the refs try to "even the playing field" like they do during conference play?
Just want to curb stomp these guys... You know all of BTW will be at the game as well...

what conference will our refs be from for this game?
I think I saw SEC.
Edit: It is SEC.
Florida State and Northern Illinois will have SEC referees in the Orange Bowl played in Miami Gardens on New Year's Day. The Seminoles will have SEC officials for the first time this year.

Coach speak, they're trying to blow smoke up our players butts hoping that we over look them and come into the game way over confident. HOWEVER, the only BCS team they played all year was Kentucky and Iowa. Both horrible teams, Iowa should have beaten them but lost at the last minute at NIU's home. Kentucky, who's a HORRIBLE team blew the doors off of them. Here's what I want:
I want to see all of next years players get a full half of playing. I want to see the game completely over BY HALF!! I want to see FSU up 45-7 at the half..
No disrespect to NIU players, but if they double Werner their interior OL is going to get dismantled by guys like Dawkins and Jernigan.
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or it may last a year. But eventually, it will subside. If i quit, however it will last forever.
I think we will see a offense similar to what NcSt ran against us in the second half of that game. They will attempt to negate our pass rush with short crossing routes and screen passes. I am worried about a cohesive scheme put together by our fractured staff on that side of the ball.
Simple, crowd the line and try to take away the run. Sell out trying to make EJ make quick decisions, they saw it didn't work well for him against NCST, VT or UF not to mention the WORST defense in GT.
EJ threw for over 300 yards against VT and we scored 28 points
