Im sure that's what you're hoping it sounds like
I don't know how it could be disheartening or puzzling.
This is all a great compliment to Jimbo, our program, and the assistants he hired. These guys aren't deck hands "jumping ship." They're being promoted to better positions elsewhere. Wouldn't it be weird if they said no?
I think it'd be disheartening if these guys WEREN'T getting jobs elsewhere. That would lead you to believe that maybe our assistants aren't getting jobs elsewhere. It's like having a girlfriend. You want other guys to look. That's confirmation that you've done well for yourself.
Bad analogy. You don't want your girlfriend to leave you though. Especially for Kentucky or Arky State or USF or FIU which you deem a step below you. I was never disheartened that our coaches stayed so long through the 80's and 90's.
Also, it would not be weird if they said no. It would show that they love where they are, are happy being a part of the program, feel like they are part of a great thing, etc.
Also, if you call our record over the last 3 years under Jimbo in the weak ACC that we have done well for ourselves then your expectations are very low for this program.
In this case, you'd have a main [woman], and a stable of others. The main one was courted and said no thanks. The others were offered something they can't have here. Analogy still works. Boom.

Don't think we have any bad ones.
I think we're very happy for our assistants getting great jobs and it certainly is inevitable. However, we need to start hiring assistants soon. Its wrong to wait weeks to do this. IF we miss on big time recruits because we're waiting to make hire, this may have a detremental effect 3-4 years down the road when we have huge gaps in our lineup and mediocre players on the field because it will happen if recruits don't feel like they know who their coaches will be.
To me, it's a much bigger problem when other programs don't want your assistants.

We probably could've gone 8-4 and these same coaches would be getting these same looks. That 10-2 was hardly impressive. People were hoping to legitimately compete for a national title before an exodus of coaches happened. We didn't.
And then there's the fact that we needed to close strong on a bunch of our top recruits but are losing 1/3 or more of our coaches less than 2 months until signing day.
Christo omnino nihil praeponere
Agree but...was hoping it would be after playing in a MNC game.
I think we lost some excellent coaches, but no one is irreplaceable. Jimbo put a good staff together originally and now he has three years experience to know what he really wants and needs. It's more than just hiring the Hot name, its about being a cohesive unit.
As far as Jimbo being hard to work for, I don't buy it. He may be demanding, but he demands more of himself than of anyone else. He also has tremendous character and a much needed sense of humor and doesn't take himself too seriously. Every workplace in the world is going to have an occasional disagreement, I just think ours are way over blown.
I also expect our staff to be better overall in '13.
But why does every coach have to leave FSU and improve their financial situation and job status all at the same time!?
The Future is Now.
Stoops went from DC to HC
Gran went from RB coach to OC
Eliot went from DE coach to DC
The main loss here is Stoops, for the other two guys, Gran is probably not deemed qualiied for the OC position at FSU (and well we supposedly already have one in Coley) and Eliot was deemed not qualified for the DC job at FSU (otherwise he would of been named).
The one thing I don't get is Hudson.
