There are two things I feel that people don't seem to realize:
1. Playoff Money - This is a HUGE monster, and if FSU doesn't go to the Big12, they're SCREWED even if Notre Dame goes ACC.
If you don't have a team in the top 4, making the playoffs, do you get big playoff money? NO.
Are conferences guaranteed a slot like the BCS was before? NO.
So if FSU isn't in the top 4, who in the hell is going to be for the ACC giving FSU a check in those "off years"? Answer, NOBODY except stastically one other team once every 10 years.
SO while everyone focuses on "amount of money per year" with respects to the ESPN/TV contracts - they need to look a lot harder at the "big picture" that includes playoff money.
If you don't think the SEC and Big12 will be getting tons of bonus checks from the playoffs every year while FSU isn't in the ACC, then you're smoking crack.
2. Notre Dame - Why is Notre Dame joining a conference partially a big deal? It's overhyped stupidity. This is NOT a new concept, they're already doing this exact same with the Big East. Sure, there's 'Hope" they'll be a football member in 2015/2016, but even that's not a sure thing as it looks like they want to stay Independant.
If Notre Dame stays independant, it means if they can manage top-4, they get a monster payday cause they can keep all their playoff money.... and they're a school than can "afford" that risk. FSU in the ACC, can't.

"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
