Mike Martin's three-year contract is up at the end of June. Checked with FSU administrators and they are working on a new contract and an announcement is expected soon, although it's tough to tell if it will be done before the end of the month (Saturday). Athletic director Randy Spetman is currently at the national conference for ADs.
Martin's deal called for a base salary of $225,000, plus bonuses based on the team's performance and the team's graduation rate. There's also more money for radio, PR and speaking engagements, the apparel deal with Nike, etc.
11 is 68 now but I would like to see him get a 2 year deal and then hand the job over to Mike Bell.
Bell did a heck of a job turning around a staff that was a struggling with two freshmen anchoring our starting rotation.
I think 2 years sounds about right and is in line with what more knowledgable posters seem to think. Last year, it sounded like many belived MM jr would get the job (maybe he still will), but Bell did a fantatsic job and is an asset to this program. I wouldn't be oppossed to either one becoming our HC. Together, they seem to be a formidable pair on the recruiting trail and as coaches.

I can't think that Bell would get the job and Meat would still be here after getting passed over. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just can't see something like that happening.
How does 11's deal compare to the Coaches from other top programs?
That's all I could find base salary wise.

meat will be the next hbc...
he a big golfer?
11 will be here until 11 wants to retire
We said the same thing about bobby.
A little different situation, imo (Martin made necessary changes and still wins, alot). Plus, I don't think Martin wants to be here more than a couple more seasons. At least thats the impression I get from others.
All I was saying is things change. I'm not saying it won't happen, bc it very well could.
I think we were headed down "that" road until Martin did what had to be done. I don't see things changing for the worse. In fact, I see it going the opposite direction.
Not sure where you got those figures but they don't look accurate. Tanner makes well over $500k per year at South Carolina.
Nevermind, didn't notice you were referencing 2010 figures
Right. It was the only base salary figures I could find.
