As a long time Nole watching the Miami D in 2012 was shocking. My how they have fallen. I remember Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and Rolle and Taylor and Blades etc etc etc The Miami D used to be ferocious every year!

GO NOLES! / SCALP EM!
Well FSUKum, We shall see I will hold you accountable and you vice versa, We shall see, remember I never said Our Defense was Great or good, I just need improvement from 117/120 anything is better than last year for US.
NoleFan1, Dude I agree in all my years this was the Worst Defense I have ever seen but I also will say Miami has always been known for our Defense rather than our Offense but 2013 has a Chance to be a Very good Offense but we need a lot of help from our Defense and I do see the ACC being slightly down again due to QB play in our League.
When People were saying about FSU prior too this year the main thing I said to all Nole fans is that this Defense is not the Defense of the past but I thought the DE were on a High level but I did not feel the LB's were that good and I felt that the DT's were good but not great like in the past.
The Problem with the Noles is not Talent its at QB and Jimbo he plays too close to the vest the same as Coach Richt at Georgia, Good man but he doesn't have that killer instinct.
I agree with that last sentence X100 Zulu.
EJ Manuel was the worst, good QB I will ever watch. And Jimbo's killer instinct was killed along the line somewhere. Maybe LSU where Saban neutered him and indoctrinated him a mindset where his side of the ball needs to simply not screw the defense.
But yea, I said it even after EJM had the half of his life against Clemson this year, he'd shit the bed at least twice down the stretch and he most certainly did. By the Florida game he was getting abused so bad mentally in the pre-snap looks I could barely watch. He'd adjust the protection and was wrong at least 33% of the time and then as soon as he saw an unblocked blitzer he'd react like most would expect out of Clint Trickett.
The defense you describe as having decent DT play, good end play and marginal LB play still gets you at least 70 or 80th in D based on nothing else, having some kind of D-Line.
The problems is your D, as a whole, is terrible across the board. Chickillo has regressed, your DTs constantly get manhandled by quality OL. Your LBs are the strength but are out of position alot. The DBs? FSU circa 2009 is a compliment to how bad they are. Dnofrio is a horrible DC who does not adjust.
Is the problem youth? It doesn't help, but cane fans have been saying that for how long? The truth is the talent is not as great as you think it is. Just because they start for your team does not actually make them good. The ability to name them will not convince people otherwise.you also lack significant depth and questionable recruiting will continue that trend.
Bottom line. Bad coaching and lack of talent equates to a 120 defense rank. That hasn't really been rectified, so why do you think it will magically improve?
2004- Miami 9-3 BC 9-3
2005- Miami 9-3 BC 9-3
2006- Miami 7-6 BC 10-3
2007- Miami 5-7 BC 11-3
2008- Miami 7-6 BC 9-5
2009- Miami 9-4 BC 8-5
2010- Miami 7-6 BC 7-6
2011- Miami 6-6 BC 4-8
2012- Miami 7-5 BC 2-10
Actually it seems pretty fair to compare the two. Outside of the last two years they have been right there with y'all or slightly out performed you. This is part of the problem with you guys. You can't see through the haze of the 80's and 90's to see what has become you. Not saying you will never be back, but you are certainly not on the right track.
Just remember those names!
Okay Guy, i will be sure to remember the names of some Jimmy's and Joe's that will take you to another 7 win season. This will be difficult though, i think i will need flash cards.
Coach, You are looking at the Records, What my statement was to Ocala was the talent of the Playmakers that you can't compare at all, Everybody knows the last 10 years we haven't been coached well, that is a given but you cannot debate the talent, Look at the NFL you will see a lot of players who are contributing that played at Miami.
Heck here in Atlanta the starting punter is Matt Bosher and we have a linebacker Atkins on the team. So while you may say we are comparable we really aren't.
I see your point and most Cane fans will agree with you on most of your points, Youth we were young and started guys who shouldn't have been starting at all, Ok but lets really look at the problem its scheme, You can't have your CB's play 7-10 feet back, that can be beat with and easy bubble screen or a quick slant.
Coach D had our DT engage and not attack, Go back when Miami had Shannon as our Defensive Coordinator and that wasn't that long ago, Watch our Defense they were smacking teams around.
Hey anybody knows you guys had a Good Defense last year but perfect example you can have all that talent and blow it time and time again, Mark Richt has done this time and time again at Georgia, I can't tell you how much talent they have but they never win the Big games. Go back to Coach Bowden I met the guy when I was in my early 20's still in College did and intern at WFTV CH 9 in Orlando, the nicest guy you ever wanna meet. The Truth of the matter Bobby didn't have the Killer Instinct and that is the truth, Jimmy Johnson would cut your heart out and eat it in your Face.
Look at Nick Saban you can't tell me that guy want cut you off to get to a 5 star recruit and he is on his players when they are winning. All I am saying is we are who we are, Canes fans know our Defense suck nobody has to tell us different but we also know we have some talent on that OL and some talent at WR and a legit QB with Stephen Morris and Duke at RB.
You can win a lot of games if you have a good QB and add in a talented TE too take the pressure off your WR's and have a defense that can at least give you a breather here and there and you can win some games especially in the Weak ACC.

Look... don't be surprised if they beat us next year.
Remember...they were within 1 score of us going into the 4th quarter. Now look at what we lost... Then look at what they lost...
Lets not forget, anything is possible if Jimbo is going to remain @ offensive coordinator...
If we can forget how to play vs. NC State, we certainly can vs. Miami next year.

The talent you had 10 years ago was left over from the good ole days. In the last 5 years the fence has been knocked down, and other teams are raiding the closet. Get used to the talent around now, and lets not talk about ten years ago. The only reason i went back that far with the records i put up, was to show how long it has been since y'all had decent season's.

Hey coach, remind me again the last time you guys won the national championship. And as for the talent level over the last 10 years, can you give me a list of the FSU players that are dominant in the NFL. As I recall, even with the mediocre records, we were still putting some pretty talented guys in the league (I think our 1st round streak ended around 2006 or 2007). We also had some highly ranked recruiting classes under Coker and a #1 class under Shannon. Unfortunately, the development of the players under these coaches (Shannon in particular) was poor and game day coaching was questionable at best.
And if we beat you guys next year, it WON'T be because you guys give it away (like NCSt). It will be because we are a better team than you.
Smh, the most over used comeback... when was the last time blah blah blah....
Who gives a crap, it is totally irrelevant to anything that is happening now
Are u the same guy that said we'll be 4-8 or 5-7 this past season? I personally can see 9-3 or 8-4. Losses will be to uf, uva, a let down, and if fsu 's qb turns out to be a stud then we'll lose (they're offense is pretty loaded with a game managing qb) no Stud QB and we win!
Don't really need the QB to be a stud, more of not being an EJ
When was the last time the Hurrishames were even thought about when talking about NC's? Why don't you tell me who is dominating in the NFL from the Hurrishames in the last 5 years? Go ahead ill wait. Beat us, and then you can run your yapper.
Will do. We will beat you and then you can crawl back in your hole. Oh, and since 2004 (the time period that we seemed to have sucked and haven't won anything) - Jimmy Graham, Kenny Phillips, Greg Olson, Jon Beason, Calais Campbell, Devin Hester, Antrel Rolle, Sean Taylor, Frank Gore, Kellen Winslow, Vince Wilfork, DJ Williams. YOUR TURN.
Congratulations on wasting the type of talent your program will never get again.
"Golden Era of the U" 13-11
Miami will beat FSU, shall the FSU players just forfeit the game then? Unless you mean you think Miami wins....
Again what does the NFL players have to do with the upcoming season. This isn't a debate on what happen years ago or who is in the NFL.
Sorry guess your not so good at reading. I went back to 2004 in the records to show the last time you guys mattered. Now like i said in the last 5 years name your dominating players. If i recall you should come back with two, one being a tight end who played one year with the hurrishames.
Also you need clean this list up. You were supposed to name dominating players.
When was the last time u guys won a national title, shall I say Prince remember him1999, also you name me some dominate players from FSU in the league, don't come down on people just debate. I have been around so if you want to direct your questions to me I will be glad to answer them.
Look Canes, we can keep this fairly friendly. (I hope)
That said, Miami has been a total albatross around the neck of the ACC since you joined the league.
You have been a complete discredit to a very average conference.
Bottom line, the only way UM has seen an ACC title game is to buy a ticket.
Your coach has the bamboozled the UM fan base with a 13-11 record, and is currently staring down the NCAA giving you a copleeete physical
Whatever comes or doesn't come of that mess, leave the smack talk out of this.
You can hope, and pray, and talk of potential and talents levels, etc., but Fisher has owned the U, and Al Golden is he best dressed coach batting just above .500.
Know your place around here.

Really know your place, I mean we haven't been the dominate team we thought entering the ACC but let's be real can you really say you are happy with your production over the last 10 years, I mean if we are not playing for the National Title we are angry, are you just satisfied with beating us and winning 9 or 10 games a year.
Lots of responses. Here are some answers. Next year's game can go either way. But if Miami wins, it won't be because FSU didn't show up. I purposely left off current players because you said dominating players. The NFL hasn't been "dominated" by too many young guys (other than a few QBs). I tend to look at Guys who have been or are All Pros. Time will tell if Lamar Miller, Sam Shields, Brandon Harris, Leonard Hankerson, Colin McCarthy and others reach that level. Right now, they are simply starters in the league, which is no different than what FSU has accomplished. As for wasted talent, perhaps you can let me know what has happened to all those great players FSU has had go through the program. Honestly, I would say FSU gets better players than Miami does. It just doesn't seem to translate into real success on the field or in the NFL. Miami has had a bad run, but FSU seems to disappoint every year.
And if you want real domination, just look at #52. He may be old school but he is possibly the best there ever was. And he was like a ** guy.
