I already knew Miami played their spring game the same day we played ours. What I didn't realize until I got on Twitter is their spring practices started yesterday.
Just curious to hear everyone's thoughts on the pros and cons of spreading out the 15 spring practices (March 2 - April 13) vs a more condensed spring practice (March 20 - April 13.)
I believe they have spring break earlier than FSU, so that is why they start practice earlier
Depends on whether your kids already know your systems our not. Because all that's going to allow for is more study time in the dorms for the players. You cant have any more contact with the kids but there's time between practices for them to study on their own. Might would have helped our defense if we would have done a bit longer. Miami's is just flat out drawn out. Limited argument for that imo.
Miami can probably use the extra time in the spring given their lack of bowl practices this past season.

Lack of bowl practices has no bearing on it.......they get 15 practices + 3 scrimmages (11v11), one of which can be the spring game. They gain zilch by spreading the spring session out, except the factors noted by others.
I would think that would take away from the s&c program.
Shouldnt they already have the playbook to be studying? I know the hands on nature should help but they should know how to pick up a playbook by now

Well yeah, I am saying the only reason you would stretch it out is so that the kids could have a day or two extra between reps. As one poster said, dont get confused, if you could legally squeeze ten minutes of extra film room time, classroom session time, or especially practice time out of spring any way every staff in America would do it year one. All Miami is wanting is for their kids to be able to have extra time between practices to study, heal and then come back at it. Depth thing as well maybe.
Part of the reason, it doesn't work for more successful programs is the lift schedule. Think about it, our boys will be finishing their first lift cycle in the next couple of weeks. You can't lift as hard while you are going thru spring as you can outside of it. You can't start the first cycle until almost February since the boys body have to recover from the season. Miami guys were ready to lift in January since their season ended in November.
