Some are happy Trickett is leaving because it GUARANTEES Winston starts.
We don't care too much about backups. I'd personally rather Coker be the backup anyhow. He doesn't limit the offense like Trickett does.
RE: Josh's tweet - I'm happy that he is gone because it eliminates any possibility of him starting, which would have only hindered the team in my opinion. A pity play from Fisher to Rick and playing Clint, or going with the experience factor is now gone......which is relieving. Not that i would expect Jimbo to do that, but it eliminates any chance of it happening with him departing.
Josh is right, only people like you who thought Jimbo was going to start Trickett just cause his dad is a coach are the only ones that were worried about it.
You only need 2 QBs. Trickett isn't better than Coker. Get off my D.
Coker could still transfer also. Not saying he will but when Winston is named the starter. It may just be Winston and Maguire. I like Maguire more than most I think but I'd still rather have a backup that has been here for 3 years than just 2 RS freshman qbs on roster.
Tell that to Maryland.
LOL, yeah bc that's so common.
It's always easy to pick the exception to the rule when it supports your argument.
When is the last season we had a QB play every meaningful snap here? Weinke the year we lost to Oklahoma? like I said if Coker decides to bolt (which is still possible) Would you rather have Maguire or Trickett coming in the game?
It's not terrible to have only two, but I would be a lot happier with at least 3
Umm... This past year? EJ went out for 3 plays.
When is the last time we had to play our 3rd string QB due to injuries?
Trickett, but it's not fair to him. He's good enough to start for a low-D1 school.

Still had an impact we go 3 and out and punt the ball right back to UF. That set of plays changed the whole game.
USF last year against Miami. Just one that I know of.

You keep overlooking the fact that Coker still may transfer, in fact before all the trickett rumors started flying around Coker was the QB most expected would transfer.
I got no issue that people disagree with me.
Here's how I see it...talent is leaving the team. If he wasn't talented enough to start, Jimbo would not start him. Period. I think Winston wins the job and starts against Pitt with or without Trickett on the roster.
Trickett is gone and Florida State just lost a QB with big game experience. Is the team worse off with him on the roster?
Something comes to mind about arguing with fools. Someone help me out here.
You ask this but will have a post within a month about how crappy the oline is.
Yup, and an immobile Trickett would make the Oline look even more shitty.
This is a silly argument. Fans aren't happy Trickett is leaving, they are happy for the meaning behind his transfer; it means Winston is starting.
I bet a majority of fans, if polled, would say that they would rather have Trickett as the back-up instead of transferring. That's not the reality though.
Kum cutting through the BS there.
We still have John Franklin coming in, Maguire may be a little erratic but he has the talent
Absolutely. This is bad news no matter how anyone spins it. The question is the degree of bad news.
Christo omnino nihil praeponere
Worrying over the back-up QB transferring is a waste of time. The two back-ups in 2012 combined for 39 reps. Trickett transferring was a good decision on his part. It would be nice to have the experience that Trickett has in the back-up role, but you just don't find that anywhere in college football. His transferring is an indication of the ability and progress of Winston, which is a good thing.
