“@ajcsportseditor: Reports suggest Alabama's Kirby Smart has taking defensive coordinator job with the Philadelphia Eagles.”
Could Pruitt leave, sure but it isn't set in stone.
I was wondering the same thing Bubblez. Wonder if Saban would go after Pruitt for DC or hand-pick whoever else he wanted in the country.

I honestly don't see Pruitt jumping ships. Would look very bad.

I can't see Pruitt leaving right after taken our defensive coordinator position, but stranger things have happened.
He wouldn't screw over Demarcus Walker like that.
BamaOnline247 says they expect Smart to stay
If Saban offers him, you can kiss him goodbye.... he will raise his stock much faster taking the black eye for bailing on us and winning a NC @ Alabama next year.... vs.... what he is likely to do with our team with Jimbo at OC.
Just a thought, not sure how much I believe this but...
Smart/Pruitt are both looking to be head coaches, if Smart is leaving for NFL DC job while we just had Stoops leave for HC job (albeit at Kentucky) wouldn't that kind of confirm the suspicion that it is great for defensive coaches to learn from Saban for awhile but that they need to get out on their own to get a HC job... Like I said not really sure I believe that but it might be something for Pruitt to think about.
Nope he wouldn't leave can achieve a head coaching position much faster at FSU. At Bama it's Sanand defense, at Fsu it's his defense, kinda like Stoops, sound familiar??
Smart isn't going anywhere IMO
Even with Bama's obscene prestige level right now not sure a puppetteered DC position there is better than DC'in for FSU under Fisher.
It takes some real conjecture to work your way around to being worried about Pruitt in this.
Better news is that KS wont get the job it seems and it may be Todd Grantham's to lose.

Just playing along with speculation, but it's truly a no-brain career decision.
Work for a team with an offensive coordinator who has proven to be iffy, who is having major coaching turnover, who is losing a significant portion of your side of the football this year, after posting 2 top-5 seasons on defense. Who can't pay you as much. (high risk)
Work for a team who has won 3 of 4 last NC's, for a coach who can manage your side of the equation while you learn. Who will pay you more (0 risk)
I completely agree you get more experience / better experience at FSU, but after Bama wins the NC next year, his stock value would be FAR higher....and have far less risk.
The only people who would advise him not do take the Alabama job = FSU Fans.... For people with no dog in the race, it's not even debatable.

That would be much better for us, IMO. Grantham is a good coach and we will be battling them for recruits that may flip after this.
"It's not the SEC conference vs. the ACC conference," "It's Florida State vs. Auburn." --Lamarcus Joyner
For some reason he has not been able to produce toughness against power run teams while at UGA. He has built HUGE, strong 3-4 DLs that fold like napkins against Bama every year.
He's a good coach though and a very good recruiter. It would really hurt their recruiting.
I'd be floored if they hired Kirby Smart. Stunned, even.
3-4 is very difficult to run in college against a team like Bama (or other power run teams). Good true 3-4 tech nose and ends are very rare. Nose especially. Just not a lot of Casey Hamptons floating around.
Exactly, even Tennessee ran on them this year.
Who will they beat for the NC next year? I have to get in on this insider info and make a little money.
kirby needs to get away from saban sooner then later
muschamp went to LSU did great and worked with tubbs at aub and mack at UTX thats why i liked his hire but
kirby sticks with saban too long he looks like a lapdog on a leash lol you dont wanna make your own name????
He's waiting for the perfect job to open up.
He wants the UGA job, but Richt won't choke long enough to give UGA a reason to replace him.
