I know UT fans think they land everyone (Wilder, Pender, Christian Jones), but apparently they think Fisher is a done deal to UT. Not trying to stir the pot just thought this was an interesting thread.
I will no longer have any faith in anything Hart does. Please tell me what het beat UF or go undefeat
Some of our fans could stand to read that thread to get a perspective check on our head coach. Interesting read, but I don't see him going to Tennessee.
I think you are misreading that thread if you think those guys are calling Fisher a done deal. It is a discussion about whether or not he would be a strong hire for their program...
I read it.... and promptly lol'd.
I couldn't resist just a little post... hahah
Don't Jimbo and Hart hate eachother?
And yesterday we heard the same thing about Gruden. He isn't going anywhere and Tennessee will end up with a middle of the road coach like always.
Yeah I thought Gruden had signed a contract and was aleady spending time in Knoxville.
Gruden makes almost $5 mil a year.
That would almost double Jimbo's salary.
Not saying he goes, but he'd have to consider it.
Can I just point out how awesome Jon Gruden's life has been the last few years....he gets to sit back and talk football while every job opening in the country wants him more and more? Its just a matter of time until he gets the BIGGG payday...Ill definitely be watching that Eagles job with him
plus he is making BANKKK right now

Recruiting has changed with parody and TV media markets. In the 90s, sure, UT was an excellent job because they were on TV ten fold more times than Va Tech. Now? ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, ESPN360, every family member can watch their kid weekly.
Thus why Va Tech, UNC, UVA, Maryland, USC, Clemson, etc have all been able to keep some talented kids home.
When UT was a program, they were in Jersey, the Virginias and Carolinas, etc. They were a big time regional recruiter.
The problem now? Like Nebraska, there are about 1-2 kids in their backyard per cycle that they can call automatics. Outside of that, they need to win battles. Sure, UT is a better "program" than Va Tech and UVA. But TV enables Mom the same benefits at both schools.
I'll argue it will take a Jim Harbaugh like effort to bring Tennessee all the way back. Otherwise, they peak around 8-4 in the SEC.
Think about it like this. South Carolina at least lands 10+ kids from their backyard that can play, and grew up wanting to play at USC. Tennessee can't even say that.
Tennessee is not going to offer Fisher $5 million. Fisher couldn't hold Gruden's playbook. There are only two coaches making $5 million and they have a combined 4 national titles in 9 years (soon to be 5). Tennessee isn't going to offer a coach who can't win the ACC the same amount of money as a Super Bowl champion. Fisher will be making between 3-3.5 million next year if he wins on Saturday. That puts him in the top-10 national and on par with Chip Kelly, amoung others. He's the 16th highest paid coach right NOW, and he shouldn't be.
Anyone who wants to hire a coach who has never coached a in college, let alone at a major program, for $5M is a moron.
The cult around this guy is pretty hilarious though.
Chucky Gruden will probably NOT be hired by Tennessee from what I'm hearing. I'd say the chances he is are +/- 5%.
Fishers on their list - as he is on most colleges with a vacancy and a pulse, but not their top choice at this point. Hart!!!!!!!
John Gruden is the new John Madden. He won his Super Bowl, he will be discussed for jobs the next decade, but he will stay on TV.
"A Seminole warrior killed in battle is a legend remembered. A Gator lost in battle becomes a pair of boots and a belt. "
No one wants to go to UT. Jimbo going to UT would be a step down as far as program condition and make it tougher to win by adding USCe and UGA every year along with UF. Last time the UT job opened up they got Derek Dooley....seriously.
Ha, good point
Wait, that was the best candidate for such a desirable job right?!?! I mean top coaches in the ncaa are what, Saban, Kelly, Dooley I thought. Oh wait..... the gator has a point
Good to see Jimmy Sexton's emails can go to multiple websites.
Hart and Jimbo DO NOT like each other. No way Hart hires Jimbo. No way.
When the faux Auburn crap did not get Jimbo a raise Jimmy Sexton started with the faux UT crap. We will hear about Colorado next week and Cal the week after.
We will hear every team this side of the San diego Chargers wants Jimbo.
As I have said before, you cannot believe a word being said about one of Jimmy Sexton's Clients.
