I've been in business for almost 3 decades and I know that if I threaten to leave an employer and have an offer on the table, even if they counter, I'm gone!
The bottom line is that I have to threaten to leave to get appreciated, then I wasn't valued appropriately.
Everyone knew that JF wasn't giving up the play calling duties. I'm glad Josh put a stamp on this thing.
I'm going to miss the guy because he's a hell of a recruiter and Miami going into sanctions is going to need an ace recruiter so that they can attempt to survive a la USCw. Smart move for Miami and good move for Coley.
It might also be a good move for FSU too! This may force JF to finally acquiesce the play calling duties to someone in order to keep valuable staff members.
To kinda paraphrase Tuna when he was the Jets coach; "He's picking out the groceries, let him cook too!"
Coleys' recruiting skill alone will keep Miami competitive with most of the teams in the ACC not named FSU or Clemson. Every other team they will have a punchers chance to win games.
The guy will always be a traitor to me but after we landed MT6 i stopped caring!
Coley has one skill that he will always be able to market. He's easily one of the best, if not thee best, recruiters in the country.
He will always get a job if he can bring talent into a school.
Sooo, I guess ESS was right after all! ESS trying to explain things to the lynch mob!
On top if that, he's probably the best south Florida recruiter in the game.
He's never going to struggle to find work. Regardless of his future successes/failures as an OC or HC.
recruiters are a dime a dozen
Pruitt has landed more in three months than Coley landed in five years
Not so fast my friend.
We all thought ESS was guilty, but it turns out it wasn't ESS at all.. It was someone with an ESS mask on... Someone who knew how to act and speak just like ESS.... Hey look over there -- that shady janitor is hiding an ESS mask in the trash can...It was the shady old janitor! I've always told Chris/Josh this is an ONLINE FORUM... that there is no way in hell we need a janitor. But they never listened to me! No sir!
/And I would have got away with it too, if it wasn't for you meddling kids!
"If FIU and USF don't even reach out to him, what makes you think someone will in the future if he stayed at FSU?"
Which is why I am not concerned with his move to Miami. Miami made this move on purely a recruiting mentality and I really don't see it having much of an impact. Miami will still get some of the south Florida talent, but they simply can't compete with what the SEC and FSU are offering, relatively. I don't care who is coaching there.
Offensively, Miami went from an NFL OC (Jed Fisch) to a one year coordinator at a school who didn't even show interest in him for the same position this off season.
Kum, I disagree. Miami has weapons on offense and nobody will outwork Coley. He'll do well.

Pruitt has landed more in three months than Coley landed in five years---You are right...remind me when he lands Xavier Rhodes (1st round) and Werner (1st round). I swear FSU may have the dumbest fans that ever post on message boards. Honestly....just flat out stupid.
So lets see since Coley got to FSU....
QB-Sean McGuire-(Career backup)
RB-Lonnie Pryor-(Three year starter and one of best fullbacks in college football)
WR-Greg Dent-Starter-(2nd best receiver at FSU behind Greene)
WR-Rodney Smith-Starter-(Three year starter-Most likely NFL Draft pick)
TE-Bo Reliford-Starter-(Two year starter)
TE-Nick Oleary-Starter-(Will be a three year starter)
TE-Kevin Haplea-Starter-(FSU best blocking TE)
OL-Bryan Stork-Starter-(Three year starter)
OL-Josue Matias-Starter-(Potential to be a three year starter)
DE-Desmon Hollin-(Will compete for starting job)
DE-Bjoern Werner-(1st Round Pick-One of FSU best players the past two seasons)
DT-Damien Jacobs-(DNQ-Will be in UF two deep this year-Solid player)
LB-Matthew Thomas (#1 Rated player in Florida)---Recruited for two years by Coley.
LB-Arrington Jenkins-(Kicked off team)
LB-Jeff Luc-(Starter at Cincy)
DB-Lamarcus Joyner-(Probably one of the top 5-6 safeties in college football moved to CB-top five player when in high school)
DB-Mike Harris-(in NFL)---Was very good at FSU.
DB-Xavier Rhodes-(1st round pick)
K-Dustin Hopkins (Lou Groza Finalist) (One of best place kickers in college football-Will most likely get drafted which is rare for kickers).
Swizz....to say anyone has out recruited him is a complete joke.

One other thing...Fisch was a QB coach in the NFL....Never an OC....And that so called great OC had one of the worst offenses ever at Minnesota...his offenses were in the 100"s......yes in 100's...Coley was the OC at FIU for one season who did not have a D1 player on their roster....big difference....Fisch offenses at Miami also were very inconsistent.
I want to keep caring what you have to say, but stuff like this really takes away from any valid points that you make.
Josh defends Coley because that's his boy, and probably where he got his recruiting info from. Then also goes to say nobody was willing to promote him to OC, except for Miami.
ESS defends Coley because he's a good recruiter, but also swears he's a legit coach. Makes a case for Coley, then downgrades Fisch.
-Coley is an elite recruiter
-Coley did the right thing and took the promotion when his boss was hindering his career
-Nobody knows if he's any good at coaching QBs or calling plays
How many times have you listened rationally to information presented by someone who leads off, by hurling an insult at you?
Your delivery needs work chap.
Why do I always have to straighten you guys out?
Josh, I don't recall anybody saying they are mad at him for going to um and getting to call plays. The venom being spewed in his direction is based purely on timing. I agree with whoever said it. Coley left a coach, a program, a school and a fan base at the worst possible time in relation to NSD. There is no way, that any coach, in the same situation, would not expect to get some backlash after a move like that.
You also said he declined the WR coach at Dallas because they are a staff on the way out. Honestly, I feel that way about um and golden. Not that this amounts to a hill of beans, but that's how I see um.
I mean we were lucky we only lost stacy coley. MT6 was out the door to usc the night before NSD and that caused us to miss out on Denver Kirkland, a serious prospect at a serious position of need. Denver said he would have followed MT6 to FSU, but thought he was going to usc and then chose Ark. Now this is all speculation, but I don't know if MT6 waivers enough if at all to push Denver to Ark.
Yes, this is the next cycle and would have happened anyway, but we lost Yearby and now clawing to stay in the game for Sony. People are going to hate on him and I'm sure he knew that.
I say this as a big fan of his. I met him a few times when he would come down for Miami Seminole Club events. If you meet him, it's easy to see why he is such a good recruiter. He loves FSU but at the end of the day, you have to do what's best for yourself. The decision for him to go to miami, although the timing really sucks, he had no control over that and had to make the best decision for himself. It really is a no brainer.
If UM has a good offense, he will get a better job in a very short time. He has plenty of weapons there already, he basically just has to not screw up. The impact of a new coach, especially a coordinator, is seldom felt in the first year. By the time his real impact his felt, he may be already gone from there. He will have it on his resume that he was a real play calling OC. In a area where he is home and one of the best in the country. I cant blame him. Still, and i say this as a fan of his, I hope his team fails miserably. Not because i dislike him, but because i dislike UM so intently. It's not personal.
