Happy thread here.
Good information below regarding the details behind coach Coley leaving. Keep it civil.
Downvote me for the lulz to the right, god knows if I didn't earn it here, I've earned it from prior threads >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

WTH is right....I will get out of line....PBEN is full of s**t...spoke to coaches at an FCS school. Please those same coaches probably call me and are looking for a new job.
BS lock is BS.
It is one thing to leave for a promotion, but it is all about how and when he did it and who he did it to. Two weeks prior to NSD when we had a coaching staff filled with guys who literally, just got here. He really hamstringed us at the worst time and did it to the guy who helped him more than anyone else in his career...Jimbo. Without Jimbo, where is Coley right now? He certainly is not OC at Miami. As far as his tweets, I really don't care, but I do think it is moronic to start going on about the "U-niverse" when your degree is from FSU, FSU is the only reason you were able to get the job you currently have, and oh yea, about a month ago you were chanting "FTS" like a high school cheerleader. If he got a job somewhere other than Miami, then I don't think FSU fans would mind, but to start "U" chants like you are their biggest supporter is a spit in the face, regardless of who signs his checks.
"Some people think football is a matter of life and death, I assure you, it is much more serious than that."
I'll reserve my opinion, until Josh fully answers my question.
I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt....that he locked it before getting to my question... because surely he wouldn't get to my question, lock it to avoid answering it... and think we would stop digging at that scab.
The answer to that question is the key in deciding whether his exit was graceful and logical or completely out of line, IMHO.
Jimbo never offered him the play calling duties...This is a fact. Anything else is pure BS. BPEN, i wear size 11
If that is indeed accurate, then you are correct... Coley did exactly what every one else would have done in that situation, including leaving before NSD, dissapointed that your boss didn't have enough faith in you...
It's not like Miami was going to give him 2-weeks to accept the offer. Be realistic.
I'd be seriously concerned if Jimbo got strong armed into giving play calling duties by a subordinate.
Trying to strong arm your boss is not how you get a promotion.
I completely understand him leaving, correct career move.
Even if he did, I don't think it matters. Coley has the right to coach where ever he wants. I think it was a matter of timing. There are plenty of coaches who continue thru NSD and then take a new job. Look at Jay Graham and Tim Brewster. The twitter thing, I am sure it is meant as a fun thing for recruits, but it does not change the fact that to FSU fans (a place that made his career and where he went to school) it is a spit in the face.
I believe you when you say he wouldn't do things with the intent to harm anyone, but the overall apparent lack of respect shown to Jimbo and FSU is baffling. "U-niverse" GMAFB.
lol, I didn't read through the whole thread and I certainly didn't mean to cut you off. I actually didn't read the question you asked me, what was it?

Counter-offers happen all the time with jobs. The company evaluates your value, and makes a decision... I would not consider this strong arming... unless the ultimatem was spoken and not implied.
From the other thread..
At some point during the day when Coley was considering his options, you confirmed that Jimbo had countered and offered Coley the ability to calls play here at FSU.
I've never read anything mentioning or confirming this outside of this site... leading me to believe that either you were incorrect with the details implied in the short statement which you made... OR... Coley had an equal option on the table, and just chose to abandon us.
What was the details behind this "offer", if it existed? He could take over calling plays in 5 years? 3-years? This year?
**Updated with link, see Josh's first post**
Noles247 has the inside scoop on the latest offseason coaching news. Will James Coley bolt for Miami? Read on for the latest.
JMHO.....but that thread should have not been locked. Coley did not only leave he left for our arch rival. As a cane coach he deserves all the ragging he gets. canes and gators deserve all the animosity they get.
Coley was not offered the play calling....There is nothing else to argue. He was told maybe sometime in the future it was a possibility but he was not offered the job not next year or the year after.
I have no problem with people being upset...That is not the issue I have. I have an issue with people who have made it personal against the guy. I have know him for close to ten years and he is a good person. See how much information Josh gets now compared to before.

The timing is the only thing that bothered me. Rivals also but that is tied to the timing. If he had left after NSD I wouldn't have cared. I like our staff better right now even though we don't have a OC.
Yeah, put me in the camp that parties will move on and be fine. This is and always will be a business. The employee (Coley) felt he had done more than enough to prove to his boss (Fisher) that he was worthy of a promotion (full OC duties). The CEO either didnt want to give it up (and unfortunately may never do it) or didnt feel the employee was worthy of the task. The employee had a better offer and felt that he had hit his ceiling and FSU and moved on.....

"It's not the SEC conference vs. the ACC conference," "It's Florida State vs. Auburn." --Lamarcus Joyner
Coley did what he had to do. I would've taken the job, too.
Josh, probably locked the thread because he's friends with Coley.
No, not at all. I locked it because I saw people arguing and I thought it was a topic that's been beaten to death.
I probably jumped the gun. But it resulted in this thread which is much more civil. So it all worked out anyway
I don't think I would have. The risk was to high with the impending sanctions.
But, he is young and can bounce back no matter how it turns out.
Best case is that he has enough talent and is able to build experience using that talent.
Worst case is that he has to take a step backwards after Miami.
Either way he is fine. My big thing is lack of patience and the willingness to take a shot at Jimbo who had been loyal to him. So be it.
Just wondered what Jimbo thought of his willingness to talk to reporters about team things when Jimbo had his AC's on lock down to the media?
Miami is not going to get hit hard with sanctions....this is another myth that won't go away.
