No, I don't expect him to compete with Miami at Marshall.. What i'm asking is where else would they have went if they wanted to play D-1? I don't really have an opinion on him. But at the same time, nothing really impresses me about him either...
You should be impressed by the fact that he is young, recruits south Florida with success at a smaller school, his players love him, his RB's have improved under his coaching, he has ties to Tallahassee, knows the FAMU factor, was a very good player and played some pro football. What did we know about Coley before he came here?
Is there any REAL reason to believe that Jimbo has him on a short list, or is this another message board rumor?
Don't be surprised if its a high school head coach from Dade.
Noleville he does have him in the short list/contact list.
So, are they talking to him about accepting the job? He sounds IDEAL!
The Future is Now.
Bottom line this guy has made Huntington, WV (don't know how many of you been there, but this alot different place than where these kids have grown up) a destination for some top flight talent that FSU and Miami had interest in. Grades or not thats very impressive, and make no qualms about it Marshall isnt the only place these kids can choose who have bad grades. Would absolutely would love this hire.

It's not so much to worry if Marshall is beating UM out for kids from Miami, but how the relationships are that they have with the kids and if they are performing well after they are enrolled athletically and academically.
By Coach Sieder putting the FSU logo on his polo, with the relationships and connections he has already built in south florida, all he has to do is sell the university, he doesn't have to sell his self. That's the purpose of having someone who has that type of history. My question is can he coach and possibly coordinate.
I'm starting to like this guy even better than Larry Porter.
Although I'd be thrilled with Porter, he still comes with a few questions...
The poster formerly known as 31-7. Understood by few, known by many, loved by all.
Porter is also at UTexas.
Yeah, he's just a name I followed closely when you first mentioned it and thought was a great fit even with all the Lyles stuff.
Seider seems to have comparable recruiting power without the baggage.
...and it would be a lot easier to go head to head with Marshall for a coach than with Texas.
FSU -->----->> The Unconquered Uprising
Some of you guys have to be kidding?..At this point his track record is equal or better than D.Craigs or Coleys were when they came to FSU,put a FSU shirt on him and let him loose.....and don't wait to long before word gets out and a bidding war starts.(Napier:OC,TE....Sanders:RB....Seider:QB)basically they are covering Coley-Gran-Craig in order......MUCKNOLE do some work and keep us informed.
He can coach without a doubt, I'll find out more come Monday and I will keep the information coming.
I was disappointed that Porter never even seemed to have gotten a look, but there were some message board rumors that popped up about him, so maybe he would have come with some baggage.
Truth is, nobody really knows why these things go the way they do except for the coaches involved.
From what I heard on this, Jimbo reached out back after Gran originally left to Porter about taking the position, but was told he was pretty much set and ready to be offered and take the UT job. Can't blame him as he will probably be paid better and those RB's he can get from Tx would be a nice treat as well. Not Jimbo's fault in this case so you can erase that issue.
Exactly. It's a false argument. Of course he can't compete with UM for 4*s when he's at Marshall. At FSU, however, he'll do just fine. The point is he's got a strong foothold in SoFla.
How do you know this?
Mucknole stated in another thread that he knows Seider personally, talks to him....FYI napoleon.
After reading these posts, I am starting to really like the idea of bringing this young fella on down to Tallahassee. I trust Jimbo to do the right thing when it comes to putting a coaching staff together.
I'd be down for this hire. Let this guy put on an FSU polo and get with it down south. Has as much or more experience than Craig did when he got here.
I don't know if he is a real candidate but my best friend is a Marshall alumni and I have kind of followed them a bit and Seider is a homerun hire and I hope we go get him.
