Could he play as well as this Manzell kid from Tx A&M? I love EJ but we need a QB with the "it" factor. EJ just doesn't have it as much as I wanted him to and I feel like its because Jimbo doesn't want him to run for whatever reason, which is when EJ is at his best IMO. EJ's pocket presence isn't NFL caliber nor are his deep balls from the pocket. I'd love for Winston to get a chance. I just don't see us doing much w/ Trickett next year or Coker for that matter or the other kid from NJ.
Doubt it. if he were as good, he'd be starting. Manziell is going to win the Hesiman as a freshman. FWIW, EJ had the it factor on the final drive. EJ isn't as bad as fans make him out to be. He is actually very good.

Not saying EJ is bad but there's much more ability than we're seeing since the Clemson game. IMO Jimbo thinks he's doing EJ a favor by not allowing him to run so he doesn't get hurt in his Senior season. EJ needs to be let loose like he was in the Clemson game and yes I agree he could have had a stellar season and we wouldn't have lost to NCST. He's not consistent on throws 25+ yards down the field.
He could. I honestly don't think Trickett is going to take over. I think it will be Winston or Coker. Need someone with some wheels until out Oline situation gets figured out and as good as Trickett has been when he has been in, we need someone that has some mobility.
No way to tell if Winston could be the next Manziel until he takes a few snaps in college football.
Agree that EJ is good. He has battled some injuries like the bum shoulder is RFresh season and last year. Johnny Football ha talent and is exciting to watch but can force throws. Reminds me a lot of Brett Favre. Also heard he likes "frosty beverages" like Favre too. Don't think he wins it this year but will be up there next.
EJ is a pretty decent QB. He reminds me of a bigger/heavier Jacorry Harris. He has an OK arm and pretty good legs. When you take his running away and make him strictly a pocket QB...no good!
It will be VERY interesting to see who starts the season as the starter. At this point its Trickett but the offseason could change to Coker.
I am looking forward to the off season discussions about the starting QB position, knowing full well how tired, repetitive and incendiary the posts will inevitably be. Going to be fun times.
Deserve got nothing to do with it...
Kevin Sumlin's and Jimbo Fisher's offenses are way different. I doubt you'll ever see a Manziel-like season from an FSU QB while Jimbo is here. Not that that's a bad thing, just the way it is.

plus Winston is not as fast as Manziel I think.
I see very little chance of Trickett NOT taking over. Dude is good. He's got huge balls. Intelligence.
If CJF doesn't want EJ to run then why does he call option & zone read plays he runs?
I love Winston.
But this Johnny Football kid...I thought for SURE Saban would drink his milkshake. What an UNbelievable performance from a freshman.
seems like it takes good defenses one half to adjust to him, and then they seem to get it under control. but I agree, he's fun to watch.

Don't be fooled, Jimbo's offense takes away any "it" factor from the QB position. It's all about making the right checks and the correct throw.

Agree, I just meant having a break-out type season. I could see it happening if JW gets things together. I'm not expecting it but it will be interesting to see what happens. I will say Jimbo needs to open things up if he expects to win it all. He doesn't have a Bama-type offense either to be conservative. We recruit athletes and need to figure out ways to get their hands on the ball more.
Agree too, but this isn't the NFL. Sometimes players just need to be able to create plays. IMO this is why EJ really good and not great because he's being taught to think too much.
Not sure why people blame Jimbo for EJ not running. EJ has said many times he prefers not to run and hands off on 90% of read plays.

So you're saying that making the wrong throws and wrong checks would enhance our QB's "it" factor?
Our QB play will not drop off at all.
We have three guys I'm individually excited about.
If our offensive coaches did a better job adjusting to the blitz I think EJ would be a frontrunner for the Heisman right now.
Yes that's exactly what I'm saying.
Jacory Harris?! E.J. is much better than Jacory Harris was.
Agree with you Fish AND if we just let the kid loose a little like we did with Chumpson. EJ was unreal in that game and he certainly could do that more often.
